Re Universal KS1 FSM programme
Further to my letter on the 9th January confirming £3.157m Capital funding for school kitchens to support the universal fsm programme for infant pupils.
I am pleased to attach the capital funding bid pro forma and detail below the criteria schools need to consider when making their application for funding.
As previously advised it is anticipated that need will exceed funding levels and I would ask that schools consider this prior to any submission.
Criteria:
· This is a needs led funding opportunity – awards will be made strictly on the basis of the predicted uplifts in daily meals and your capital requirements to enable this – this is not a capital refurbishment opportunity.
· Open to all primary and infant schools
· Junior schools who wish to make an application must state clearly why they are impacted by the KS1 FSM programme – joint infant and Junior bids will be considered.
· Schools must have discussed their current provision and anticipated daily uplift with a member of the school meals support & advice service for which a record of need and recommendations will be referred to.
· Due to restricted funds available, building works to extend premises/build kitchens are unlikely to be considered unless agreed with the school meals support & advice service prior to submission.
· Bids should include scope of modifications including both costs for building improvements/modifications and equipment – some items of light equipment will be considered in context with the capital equipment needs.
· Bids must include the predicted daily additional uplift in meal uptake
· All schools will be expected to contribute 35% of the total value of their validated bid – for VA schools this will include the required 10% in accordance with procedure for VA schools.
Bids need to be submitted by email to: no later than 14th February 2014 – all submissions will receive an acknowledgement, if your school has not received this prior to the close date you should contact the school meals help line on 01245 356218 before the closing date for submissions.
All schools will be notified of the outcome of their bid on the 28th February, along with details of next steps. The process for VA schools will be clarified at this stage.
Should you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact me via the school meals helpline 01245 356218 or email:
Yours sincerely
