Which Need(s) does this Goal address? / OBJECTIVE: Increase the percentage of vocational education students demonstrating mastery of 75% of the competencies in a selected course to 85% of the students enrolled.
How is this Goal linked to the system’s Five-Year Plan? / This is linked to the system’s Five-Year Plan of creating academically challenging, safe, supportive, and effective learning environments.

Action Steps

GOAL 1: Action Steps
1. / Students will participate in “Reading for Learning” activities as well as a variety of innovative communication strategies, which will be introduced bi-monthly into the classroom.
2. / Students will use online resources to develop a communication portfolio. Each program will evaluate and collect model samples of student achievement utilizing a variety of communication techniques.
3. / At-risk students will participate in the Career Enhancement Program. Select students will test for current levels of achievement via the PLATO/Academy of Reading labs and then begin instruction on their individual level.
4. / Students will complete articulation agreements with post-secondary institutions.
5. / ESL students will participate in tutoring sessions.

Goal / Increase the number of business, government, and community resource interactions at Career and Technology Centers.
Which Need(s) does this Goal address? / OBJECTIVE: Increase the number of business, government, and community resource interactions at Career and Technology Centers by 5% over the previous school year’s number of interactions.
How is this Goal linked to the system’s Five-Year Plan? / This is linked to the system’s Five-Year Plan of strengthening the family/ school/community partnership to support the academic, vocational, social, and emotional development of students.

1. / Advisory committee meetings will be held a minimum of twice yearly to keep abreast of current industry standards and new technological trends.
2. / Students will job shadow at various businesses.
3. / Students will participate in Career Day.
4. / Adopt-A-School sessions will be held twice yearly to develop new partnerships and to enhance existing ones.

Goal / Increase the student completion rate in all vocational education courses.
Which Need(s) does this Goal address? / OBJECTIVE: The goal addresses the need to increase attendance as mandated by the state’s goal of 93%.

GOAL 3: Action Steps
Students’ progression on completion of their technical path or combined path credits will be reviewed.
Students and parents of absent students will be called daily.
Students will interact with motivational speakers who emphasize the importance of attendance in school as well as in the workplace.

Goal / Increase the placement rate for all career and technology students who complete Level II Courses.
Which Need(s) does this Goal address? / OBJECTIVE: Increase to 80% the percentage of students completing Level II vocational technical courses who continue their education, are in the military, or are employed in an area related to their vocational training.
