Review of Sep meeting Minutes

·  Approved – no changes required.

Fundraising Update – Julie Roth

·  Mr. Sub

·  Our new ordering system together with pizza is working smoothly! We will continue with the same system going forward.

·  Cycle 3 order forms will go out on Nov. 11th with money due back Nov. 14th.

·  School Dance-a-thon

·  Successful event. Changes to be considered for next time:

§  No bracelets as they break too easily

§  We are out of bracelets – need to consider more for the Spring dance or change it up

·  Suggested theme for Spring – Trolls

·  DJ was not as good as in past events. Julie to follow up with DJ with feedback from staff/students.

·  Movie night

·  Scheduled Jan 26, 2016

·  Movie title will be decided next meeting – Council asked to come with suggestions

·  Concessions will be decided next meeting

Treasurer’s report – Ian Kinnear

·  Our Account balance is $6737.16

·  Two teachers have come forward with funding requests. Teresa will vet and bring to the next meeting if applicable.

Staff Updates

·  Christine Lucchesi is our new Office Manager!

·  Judy Kupers is retiring as of Nov. 1st 2016

·  ECO Solar panel project is well underway. A structural concern was noted; however, the engineers confirmed all OK.

·  Homestead is collaborating with David Suzuki S.S. to collect milk bags. These milk bags are a part of the ECO program and will be used to create mats for third world families.

·  Nov 11 – Remembrance Day Assembly

·  Nov 26 – Swing kids at the Brampton Xmas market

·  Breakfast club Update - currently serving breakfast 3 days/week. This will be extended to 5 days/week beginning in December.

·  Nov 21-25 – Bullying Awareness week

·  Kiss and Ride and Parking Safety Update - This is an ongoing initiative for parents and the school. Parents are reminded and encouraged to use the Kiss and Ride appropriately including NOT allowing children to exit vehicles until the designated safety drop off zone. Administration, Teachers and School Council will work together and organize a blitz to help educate parents. Angelo will coordinate the week long blitz and communicate the date to those involved. Angelo to create a hand out for parents during teacher interviews.

Communications

·  Teneisha will provide a winter update to Angelo for inclusion in the next newsletter.

Sponsorship

·  Michelle will send out sponsorship requests the beginning of December for the Spring Dance-a-thon.

Parents Reaching Out Grant

·  Royal Orchard Middle School is hosting a Social Media Education evening with Chris Vollum, Tuesday Nov. 8th beginning at 7pm. Parents from Westervelts and Homestead will also be invited. Julie to send Angelo the flyer for distribution at both elementary schools.
