Schlitz Parkand Salus Corporate Wellness Team Up to Host

3rd Annual Corporate Challenge Run/Walk

Office Park also announces Plans for 2nd Annual MilerwithIncreased Cash Awards

Milwaukee, January 21, 2013–Schlitz Park, the downtown riverfront office complex, announced today that it will partner with Salus Corporate Wellness to host the 3rd annual Corporate Challenge, Wisconsin’s only corporate run/walk on Thursday evening September 19th. The Corporate Challenge rewards company participation, not just speed, and is designed to promote employee health and wellness through competition and camaraderie.

But first up is the 2nd annual Schlitz Park Miler on Tuesday evening June 25th withincreased financial reward for the region’s fastest runners. In addition to cash awards to the fastest three men and women ages 20-39 and 40 or over, the Miler will pay a $100 bonus to the man and woman who break the previous year’s winning times of 4 minutes 29 seconds (m) and 5 minutes 12 seconds (w). The Miler is the only competitive one mile run race on the road in the metro Milwaukee region and is an ancillary event to the Schlitz Park Criterium bicycle race.

“All of these events demonstrate that Schlitz Park and downtown are not only great places to take care of business, but also your health and wellbeing,” said Schlitz Park developer Gary Grunau. “Health and wellness offerings are important amenities that attract and retain tenantsand employees to downtown and Schlitz Park.”

The office park launched both its Miler and 5K run/walk events last year as part of an expanding array of wellness amenities that included the opening of new fitness centers and hiring Salus as on site wellness provider. About 40 corporate teams participated in Salus’ Corporate Challenge in 2012 including winning team GE Healthcare with more than 90 runners. Recognizing the event’s success and potential along with the sharedobjective to promote employee health and wellness, Grunau invited Salus to move the Corporate Challenge to Schlitz Park for 2013.

“The Corporate Challenge provides Wisconsin organizations with the opportunity to flex their muscle as health conscious companies committed to wellness,” explained Michael Boehmer, director of Wellness and Fitness Services for Salus. “All Corporate Challenge participants receive a free eight-week training plan and finish line dinner celebration plus other perks.”

Both events offer early bird discounted registration fees -- $10 for the Miler and $20 for the Corporate Challenge – through March 1st. Then individual team members can register.

Proceeds for the Schlitz Park Miler will benefit DreamBikes Milwaukee, a nonprofit that strategically places used bicycle stores in low-income troubled communities and hires local teens. For the Salus Schlitz Park Corporate Challenge, proceeds will go to Milwaukee Riverkeeper, a nonprofit that serves as an advocate and voice for the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic Rivers.
