Productive light construction solution

New Schenck vertical balancing machine for the automated correction of small series

The vertical balancing machines from Schenck RoTec are widely considered as the optimum solution for the series production of disk-type rotors. With the new Distec, Schenck RoTec now offers a modern, complete system, which now makes the automated balancing of even small series economically feasible. The Distec is very energy-efficient, is designed for rotors weighing up to 30 kg and is equipped with a high-performance measuring system with touch-screen.

Pulleys, fans, clutches or flywheels – even those who have to balance only small series of such disk-type rotors will quickly fall in love with the new Distec vertical balancing machine from Schenck RoTec. With this service-friendly and space-saving complete solution, the Darmstadt engineering manufacturer has developed an attractive solution for entry into automation of production balancing processes. The Distec is economical in use even for small series, making a valuable contribution to quality assurance in rotor production thanks to its high precision.

Ergonomic and simple

The advantage of the new Distec: It is suitable both for manual and automatic loading. It accommodates the user in all operations, because the loading height is optimally designed and the spindle spacing extremely short – both of which facilitate (and speed up) the insertion of the rotor. All operating elements, the button panel and the touch-screen of the measuring unit are also positioned within immediate reach of the operator. The developers of Schenck RoTec – as for the other machines produced by the company – have placed great value on the overall ergonomic conception, as demonstrated not least by the fully automatic safety devices.

The Distec is suitable for the balancing of disk-type rotors weighing up to 30 kg and with diameters of up to 500 mm. It therefore covers a wide application range. The calculation of the unbalance and the correction is carried out by the integral CAB measuring unit, which thanks to the touch-screen and clear symbol language is very easy to operate. The setting of the measuring device is carried out simply by entering the geometry data of the rotors. All setting data are stored, so that they are available again for use at a later time on rotors of the same type. This enables efficient working with the optimum measurement results. Another major advantage: The correction of the measured unbalance of the test specimen with the new Distec can be carried out by horizontal or vertical drilling, depending on the geometry of the rotor.

Economical and flexible

With the new Distec, Schenck RoTec has also defined the current status of the technology with regard to energy-efficiency. The machine is designed and constructed to modern light construction standards, works with very economical drive assemblies and gets by completely without superfluous hydraulic and cooling systems. Even the drill unit boasts an energy-optimised design.

The Distec can also be positioned easily by crane, has a very compact design and can be installed without any special foundation. The machine is ready for operation immediately after connection to the electricity and pneumatic supply. This gives the operator flexibility in the positioning of the machine and enables rapid adaptation to changing production processes.

The new Distec complies with all requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC in effect since 2010, and is CE-certified. Its protective housing conforms to ISO 7475.
