SCfS Job: Integration Support Worker

Job Description

Duties:

This job works in close collaboration with theVolunteer & Project Coordinator (VPC) and the befriending coordinators to perform the following duties:

-Meet new families when they arrive

-Assess the needs of new families for materials, befriending support, etc

-Allocate volunteers to new families

-Allocate volunteers to other activities (e.g. admin, conversation groups, snack & chat, walk and talk)

-Monitor volunteer activities to ensure consistent and good quality services to families and individuals

-Provide support to volunteers (training, dealing with problems, etc)

-Provide back up to VPC and teams in other matters, e.g. managing the materials store and distribution of materials to families

-Respond to requests from the Councils for assistance with transport to clinics, job centre, etc.

-Participate in regular meetings with the council to plan, monitor, etc.

Particular responsibilities of this job will be to:

-Set up and coordinate regular sessions for the Syrian families to get together

-Enlist the participation of Syrian family members in activities of the organisation

-Develop activities that will support women

-Provide holiday cover for the VPC.

Working Conditions:

The Syrian families who have arrived over the last two years have been settled into communities between Stirling and Alloa, and more are expected to arrive gradually. The majority are based in Clackmannanshire, so the job requires a person who can easily access towns in that county; and ideally have a working knowledge of that area.

The job-holder will need to use his/her own car, with reimbursement for miles travelled at a standard mileage rate.

Working hours have to be flexible so that visits to families and meetings with volunteers can be made at convenient times for them, e.g. when introducingbefrienders to a family or visiting families to assess needs for extra clothing or bedding, toys for children, etc. This can involve some hours in the evenings and at weekends.

The job is primarily home based but there is access to office and meeting space when required. Arrangements for use of a computer and printer to be discussed. The cost of running expenses (print cartridges, paper) will be reimbursed.

The post will report to the VPC, and will require contact with individual trustees and team leaders responsible for different parts of the SCfS programme.

The job is for an initial period of 4 months, but may be extended by mutual agreement, subject to funding which is currently being sought.

This is a part-time post, 21 hours per week. For the four month period the salary will be paid monthly. The monthly rate will be calculated on a pro rata basis relative to a full-time salary range of £21,000 to £23,000 per annum. The actual salary within that range will depend on the level of relevant experience of the person appointed.

-Administrative skills and experience, including use of IT in creating and maintaining necessary records and reports

-Possession of a driving license and car for visits to families, attendance at meetings, etc (expenses will be reimbursed).
