1-3 / Section One: study the grammatical reiview (Cases), pp. 5-12 very carefully.
Complete the exercises 1.1-1.3
In this section you will encounter a short excerpt from Caesar’s Gallic Wars and another from Vergil’s Eclogues.
During any of your work, you may come in before or after school for help with any of the exercises.
By the end of week 3, come in before or after school, and check your answers. See Dr. Patrick for the key. / Studying the grammatical review in each new lesson is extremely important. This means reading it, word for word, and studying the many examples that you are given. Then, while doing the exercises, refer to the review section for help.
4-6 / Section Two: study the grammatical review (Pronouns), pp, 20-24. Study closely enough that you can talk about the patterns in the declension paradigms that appear among pronouns. They have a pattern all their own.
In this section you will encounter excerpts from Seneca’s Epistulae Morales and Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
By the end of the third week, come in before or after school and check your answers. See Dr. Patrick for the key. / You should attempt to learn this pronoun paradigms from memory. If you will study them to see the repeating patterns, it will be easier.
Refer to the review as you do your exercises.

During the fourth year, you will keep this pace—a new section every 3 weeks.

For those doing the SAT II prep work as their contracted work, the Excelability Workbook material will always be recorded as “Formative Assessments.” After every 2 chapters, you will have an online test to take via quia.com. Those scores will be recorded as “Summative assessments. Your performance final will be in part your Commonplace book as well as a speaking portion based on our work in class.

Mondays of every week are “conference days”. I will be in conference with one group of students each Monday—AP, or SAT option students. While I am in conference with one group, the other groups will work together in cooperative learning. This is the ONLY in class time that you will have for your contracted options. All other contracted options take place outside of class.
