SARN SHOW * * SARN SHOW * * SARN SHOW
If it is the 2nd Saturday in August it must be Sarn Show Day. Perhaps not. The Show Committee needed a new Chairman & Secretary. Fortunately Brigit Clacy & Kathy Clayton stepped forward. However they can't do it on their own. The Show Committee needs new members. They will also need volunteers on Show Day. Sarn Show has been a village institution for longer than anyone can remember. It would be a shame if it vanished now. Wouldn't you miss meeting up with friends, the naughty dogs at the dog show, the flowers, fruit & veg, the children's pictures? If you can help in any way please contact the Chairman, Brigit ( 01686 670949 or ) or the Secretary, Kathy ()
SARN RECREATION ASSOCIATION
Following our public meeting on the 8th April regarding resurfacing the car park and our social event and fund raising calendar the Village Hall Committee would like to thank everyone for attending. There were some great ideas put forward and we learned a great deal about how we could improve our communication with the community. There is going to have to be further research undertaken regarding car park resurfacing options and how we can best introduce people’s ideas. We will try to make sure that everyone is kept in the picture and hope that our meeting will be the catalyst for many future improvements. Thank you again and don't forget, we do desperately need new committee members. We are a warm and friendly group. Why not join us. Our A.G.M. will be on Tuesday, 20th May at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.
SARN COFFEE MORNING GROUP
meets at Sarn Village Hall on 2nd & 4th Mondays of each month from 10am to noon. . All welcome.
KERRY COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Council discussed the possible format for the Kerry Community Council Website. Councillors were happy with the format shown detailing their contact information. Clerk advised Council that each village in the ward would be able to have their own page on the site allowing information on forthcoming events, newsletters and items of local interests. Possible income from allowing local businesses to advertise on the site. Clerk needs to inform Visionict asap to comply with PCC’s deadline. We invite local organisations to display their details on the Website. We are also looking for local photographs and perhaps a small written introduction to the history and present day life in Sarn. Please email all contributions for consideration by KCC to the clerk at Neighbourhood Policing Team. PCSO 8126 Liann Astley made herself available to discuss any areas of concern the Council may have. Dog fouling, a continuing ongoing problem was highlighted. It was noted that unless they actually witnessed people in the act of allowing their dog to foul without any attempt to clean it up they are unable to prosecute. Cold Callers are becoming an increasing cause for concern. Residents are asked to pass on vehicle registrations and any details of cold callers to the Neighbourhood Policing Team. There are plans to display “No Cold Calling Zone” signs in the areas most affected. Teething problems with the non-emergency number 101 are being worked on and the standard of service improved. The Police surgery dates are on the Dyfed Powys website each month. Liann left contact cards with Councillors and an invitation to call any time. Sarn Councillor Vacancy. One application received. Council voted unanimously to co-opt Owen Stanier. Councillors introduced themselves and welcomed Owen aboard. Cllr. Janice Bonfield (Kerry) submitted her resignation in her absence. Cllr. Bonfield is moving from the area. Council asked for a letter of thanks and good wishes for the future to be sent to her. Sarn matters. Clerk to advise Highways of streetlight not working opposite the entrance to Village Hall car park, next to the pub. Also that there is mud on the road at Llancowrid as a result of recent flooding. Drain near the Old Smithy is blocked with mud. The bus shelter is prone to flooding after vandalism to the guttering down pipe. Clerk to confirm ownership and to seek repair. Whereabouts of Village Pump Handle to be confirmed. Planning : P/2014/0134 11/02/2014 Ridgeway School (Sarn Garage) Full: Change of use to land for car sales (part retrospective), maintenance repairs and storage together with erection of building for car repair workshop. No KCC objections. To contact the clerk, Angela Feltham, tel 01686 650747 or Email
