1. Approval of Minutes, 10/24/06 / Corrections: New Business: Pat Alvano. Program updates: #5 Technology Specialist position; #2 Connie Wilson. / Motion to approve the minutes as corrected (Cucovatz/Wirtz) passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Request for Authorization to Apply for a Grant: Teacher Preparation Pipeline (TRP): Ruth Babeshoff

3. Reorganization: Library Clerk from 12 to 19 hrs/wk (Title III) and Library Systems Specialist from 19 hrs/wk to full-time: Mary Halvorson

5. 2006-2007 Collegial Governance Framework / The one-year grant addresses the Teacher Preparation Pipeline for the anticipated shortage of K-16 career technical education teachers. The grant will help SCC recruit, enroll and retain students in math and science teacher pathways. At the end of the grant, we would hope to continue the partnerships created through the grant.
Opportunity for SCC faculty, staff and administrators to submit an application for a grant from matriculation up to $5,000. This item will be sent out to all SCC e-mail users for consideration.
First reading. Positions need to be expanded along with the growth of the library.
First reading. Large increase in number of stations to maintain with the completion of the new library. This position would report to ITS.
These positions will be added to the SCC and ITS classified priority listings (SCC listing was presented to the Academic Senate earlier in the year.)
First reading. Following discussion, modifications were made to the Legend. The Council discussed the solid line for operational recommendations and decided to change those lines to “information/recommendations” and delete the designation. / Second reading will occur on November 28.
Consensus from the group to go to a second reading.
Modifications to the Legend: delete “Committee” after Governance and Advisory; delete the Operational recommendations section and thick line. The Council decided to change the thick line to a dotted line and delete the designation.

/ Members have attended several conferences. Planning to attend the regional meeting on Saturday. World Animal Day, Wednesday, 11/15; ICC Carnival, Thursday, 11/16; Potluck in office, 11/22; Invisible Angels, 11/20-12/5. The ASB is reviewing the Constitution and By-laws.
The reorganizations approved at the last meeting have gone to the district.
SB361 provides a new formula for funding that is simplified.
OEC is reviewing the process for becoming a “center,” which would make them available for an additional $1 million in funding.
Bernie Schwartz spoke at the last Classified Hawks meeting.
Concerns from the group: posting of speed limits on the pavement; clear white markings on parking stalls; and more stop signs. The next meeting will be held in the LRC.
Holiday auction is planned for Wednesday, December 6.
The Virtual Groundbreaking for the DemonstrationGarden is set for Friday, December 1, on the second floor of the E building. Advertising is on-going for intersession and the spring semester.
Curt thanked Meg Rothi for the student representative on the Technology Committee. A new Newsletter will be out soon.

Official audit is occurring of all degrees, programs and certificates that have been sent to the state.
Planning in math and engineering to use basic skills one-time money.
The SLO committee and Curriculum and Instruction are looking at the course outline template to decide where to place the SLO section.
The Educational Support and Student Success Council have been merged into the Student Success Committee. The proposed committee structure was presented.
The Academic Senate has created a prioritized faculty hiring list for 2007-2008, and forwarded it to the President. The Senate passed the plagiarism software package resolution. The Governance Framework has gone through with a first reading. All narratives are due for the five-year EMP on November 20.
The district is planning a common day for all faculty and staff on February 1, 2007, at SAC. Staff development committees from both colleges and the district will be involved in the planning.
Mr. Vazquez would like to meet with SCC faculty, staff and students to discuss how we will move forward without the passing of Measure O (thinking out of the box). / Review and bring comments for a second reading on November 28.
