Santa Clara Corvettes

Charity Donation Policy

Santa Clara Corvettes is a Not-for-Profit Social Club as defined by the IRS section 501(c)(7) and is a corporation. That means we operate as a corporation that pays no taxes and exist as a social club and any monies we spend are for the benefit of our members. We budget our revenues and expenses to nominally breakeven at the end of the year. In the event we have excess revenue at year’s end, we ask our members to suggest local charities and we donate to those whom we deem appropriate. No members gain profit from our events or from membership.

1.We will make a charitable donation to 3 Local Charities if it is determined by the Board that we have revenue to do so.

2.We will ask each interested club member to make ONE written recommendation of a local charity that they feel is worthy of consideration. These recommendations should be 150 words or less explaining what the charity does, how it benefits our local community and includes their website & contact information. The period for submittal of recommendations will be 45 days beginning June 1st. A recommendation can be made to any SCC Board member.

3. The Board will review all recommendations to be sure each charity is authentic, uses donations primarily towards the end benefactors and not to staff or overhead.

4.The Board will prepare a list and summary of all approved submitted charities for a vote by the membership. Each member present at the Business meetingmust vote for 3 different charities and the 3 garnering the most votes will be our chosen charities.

5.When the final accounting from CorvetteSpectacular car show is completed, the Board will review our bank balance and suggest the dollar amount of our Charity Donation. The membership will be asked to approve that amount at the next Business meeting. The approved amount will be split equally among the 3 chosen charities.

6. All donation checks will be presented to the chosen charities personally by SCC Board members by December 31st of that year.
