SAMUEL JACOB RAGER, 72, died in Miners Hospital, Spangler at 6:58 p.m. Friday, March 18, 1960.
A resident of Stafford, he was born in Black Lick Township, Cambria County, November 2, 1887, son of Amos W. and Caroline Jane Falcomer Rager. His wife, Daisy Mae Ressler preceded him in death July 23, 1953.
Mr. Rager is survived by nine children: Harvey J. Rager, Commodore R.D.; Mrs. Mary K. McNeil of Castro Valley, Calif.; Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Murphy of Commodore R.D.; Mrs. James (Frances) McCrystal, Lake Milton, O.; James W. Rager, Barnesboro R.D.; Mrs. Lila Mae Ferrier, Commodore R.D.; Mrs. John (Rosetta) Kertesy of Marion Center R.D.; Mrs. John (Vera Ruth) Martini, Tracy, Calif.; Telford T. Rager, Cleveland, O.; 43 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, one brother, William Rager of Johnstown.
Friends will be received at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, after 7 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, the hour of service to be held in the Funeral Home, the Rev. S.O. Sigworth officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Johnstown.

DAISY MAY RAGER, 65, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Murphy, Commodore R.D. at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
A resident of Stafford, she was formerly of Vintondale, a daughter of James and Margaret Smith-Ressler, born in Cambria County, April 1, 1888.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel J. Rager, six daughters and three sons: Harvey J. Rager, Commodore R. D,; Mrs. Mary K. McNeil, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Dorothy E. Murphy, Commodore R. D.; Mrs. Frances McCrystal, Newton Falls, O., James Rager, Clymer R. D.; Mrs. Lila Ferrier, Commodore R.D.; Mrs. Rosetta Keteesy, Marion Center R.D.; Mrs. Ruth Martina, Oakland, Calif., and Telford Rager, of Cleveland, Ohio; 38 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and these brothers and sister: Lawrence Ressler of Barr Slope, Earl Ressler of Vintondale R. D.; James Ressler of Conemaugh; Mrs. Elizabeth Bartte, of Johnstown, Harry Ressler, Vintondale, Frank Ressler, of Vintondale R. D.
Friends are being received at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, where services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. (DST) Sunday, July 26. The Rev. Clarence M. Bennett will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Johnstown.

James W. Rager, 78, Glen Campbell RD 1, died Friday, March 11, 1994, at his residence. A son of Samuel J. and Daisy Mae Raessler Rager, he was born July 17, 1915, in Buffington Township, Indiana County. Mr. Rager was a member of the Church of God, Burnside, and the Gipsy Northeast Senior Citizens. Prior to retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator for Arcadia Coal Co. Surviving are his wife, Marie Shankle Waugaman Rager, whom he married April 13, 1979; these children: Mrs. Betty Nicholson, Homer City; Lawrence Rager, Glen Campbell RD 1; Telford Rager, Frederica, Del.; James H. Rager, Cherry Tree R D 2; Gerald Rager, Dover, Del.; Bobby J. Rager, Heilwood; two stepchildren: Mrs. James (Mary M.) Watson, Westover; Don C. Waugaman, Cherry Tree RD 1; two sisters; 34 grandchild ren, 12 stepgrandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren. Lila Mae (Rager-Ferrier) Meckley, 81, of Commodore, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Indiana Hospital Transitional Care Center. Born Jan. 9, 1918, in Vintondale, she was the daughter of Samuel J. and Daisy Mae Ressler Rager. Mrs. Meckley was a homemaker who worked in farming and beef cattle raising. Surviving are her husband, Isaac 'Ike' Meckley, Commodore ; and these children, Mrs. Lulu Belle Shalke, and husband Paul, Massilon, Ohio; Mrs. Daisy Ruth Prugh and husband R. Earl, Commodore; Amos W. Ferrier and wife Val Jean, Elderton ; Carlyle "Joe" Ferrier and wife Virginia, Commodore; Mrs. Helen Louise Ewing and husband Leroy, Crossville, Tenn.; and Mrs. Mary Catherine Wagner and husband B. Wayne, Woodstock, Ga. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: James Johnston, Robert Prugh Jr., Karen and Patricia Rankin, William Ferrier, Shirley Bills, Jody Ferrier, M. Todd and Brian Ewing, Denise Howard, Wendy and Mary Melissa Wagner; 15 greatgrandchildren; four stepchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren, 20 step-great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Maitino, Salamanca, Calif. Friends will be received at the Bence Funeral Home in Clymer Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will b e held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Edwin E. Nichol officiating. Interment will be in the Manor Cemetery in Cherryhill Township.
