Sample Web 2.0 Tools Use Agreement (Elementary)

Safety

In the interest of students’ safety, the following protections will be in place for our use of this/these tools:(keep the ones that apply; delete others)

Only the teacher will be registered with a whole-class account to be used by all students.

Student accounts will be created under strict protections and monitoring of all student activity in this education-only tool.

Only students, parents, and staff members with a related interest to this class will be able to SEE the work created by our class

The public will be able to see our work but will nt see any names r other identifiable information about our class or students

Only students, parents, and staff members with a related interest to this class will be able to COMMENT ON the work created by our class

Everything we make with the tool(s) is subject to teacher approval and/or deletion.

The teacher will be notified of any changes to student work

All student-made work will be removed from public view after the school year ___ has ended.

No individual or identifiable “profiles” will be used.

Rules for the Tools

All students and guests must sign that they understand and will follow this agreement.

No student may change or delete the work of another without permission from both that student AND the teacher.

The teacher will make every reasonable effort to monitor conduct using this tool in order to maintain a positive learning community. All students and guests will respect the each other’s work.

No student or guest may include any information or pictures on the tool that might be unsafe for our class members.

Everyone will be respectful in what they create. No trash-talk, bad language, insults, bullying, or rude wording in projects or comments.

All students must protect their own and any whole class log-in and password. If you think a password is no longer secret, tell the teacherright away.

Use only your OWN (or whole class) log in, no one else’s.

If you know that someone has broken these rules, you must report it to the teacher right away.

All use of these tools must be used in accordance with the school’s Acceptable Use Policy, even if you do the work from computers outside of school.

Use of copyrighted material (such as pictures you find on the web) must be done with proper credit. Check to be sure you know how to do this correctly.

Consequences

If you break any of the rules of this agreement or the school’s Acceptable Use Policy, you can be punished as with any other school rule. If you break the rules, you might also receive a failing grade for the project. The teacher has the option of giving a warning in the case of minor violations, but this is up to him/her. Do not assume that you will get a warning.
