Changes to Foxwood School, Hythe and Highview School, Folkestone

Kent County Council is proposing to merge and relocate Foxwood and Highview Schools. The merger will be effected by the closure of Foxwood School and the redesignation and enlargement of Highview School following which the school will be rebranded and relocated into a new building in Park Farm Road, Folkestone.

Notice is given in accordance with section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Kent County Council intends to discontinue Foxwood School, a maintained special school for 122 pupils with Profound and Severe Needs, Seabrook Road, Hythe, Kent CT21 5QJ on 31 August 2015. All pupils attending Foxwood School at the time of the closure will be transferred to the roll of Highview School.

Notice is also given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Kent County Council intends to make the following prescribed alterations to Highview School, Moat Farm Road, Folkestone, Kent CT19 5DJ

·  To expand the school from 160 places to 336 places from 1 September 2015.

·  To change the designated need type. The school currently makes provision for SEN pupils with Complex Needs. It is intended that the school will make provision for SEN pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs from 1 September 2015.

·  To relocate the rebranded Highview School from the sites at Seabrook Road, Hythe and Moat Farm Road, Folkestone to a site at Park Farm Road, Folkestone from 1 January 2016.
