RE: Young ES: K-4 Gen Ed Teacher

Dear Mr. Smithwick:

I am confident that my skills, background, education and Texas elementary teaching certification make me an excellent candidate for the K-4 General Education Teacher at Young Elementary School, as advertised on the El Paso School District website. I have attached my resume for your consideration. I hope to use my teaching skills to make a difference in the lives of students at Young Elementary School.

I started my teaching career as a long-term substitute teacher, capturing the attention of my principal, colleagues and parents as I heightened student excitement and improved performance on quizzes and tests. My ability to assess students’ aptitudes and design lessons around their different learning styles increased student success and my effectiveness as a teacher.

Over the past five years, I have managed my own classroom and received Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Quarter awards while teaching in Japan. As a teacher and technology director at Jamestown Elementary School, I developed a specialized program for technology training at our school and was successful in winning grant funding to expand the program.

I am currently working on my Master of Education with anticipated graduation in May of 2016. As a student, I have a new appreciation for my role as a teacher and plan to try the new methods and techniques I am learning.

I am excited about joining the team at Young Elementary School and hope to hear from you soon to discuss position specifics and answer any questions you might have.

Regards,

Mary Carver
