Program Summary:The Department of General Services, Statewide Office Systems Support (SOSS), formerly known as the Office of Machine Repair - Information Technology (OMR-IT), provides statewide comprehensive repair and upgrade services for personal computers, peripherals, and other standard office equipment. SOSS offers its services throughout California via numerous remote field office locations. Services are available to all State Agencies; StateUniversities; city and county governments; public schools; and special districts. Services can be arranged in advance through interagency service agreements or on-demand through time-and-material service calls.
Statutory Authority:
Pursuant to the California Government Code (19130-19134), Public Contract Code (10337), and the State Contracting Manual (Section 7.75), agencies are required to obtain repair and maintenance services for office equipment from SOSS. Exemptions must be obtained in writing from SOSS prior to contracting with an outside vendor for maintenance and/or repair of any office equipment.

SOSS is an Authorized Service Provider for many manufacturers including Hewlett Packard (HP), Dell, Compaq, Apple, Toshiba, Lexmark, Xerox, Sharp, Okidata, Swintec, and Brother. As an Authorized Service Provider, SOSS receives extensive manufacturer provided training and certification. This enables SOSS staff to perform warranty work for many products.
