JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Operations Assistant

LOCATION:1 Paddington Close, Salford, M6 5PL

HOURS:Currently24 hours per week worked over Mon, Tues, Weds and Thurs, 7.30am start

SALARY:£8.50 per hour dependent upon age and experience, any possible callouts to be paid at time + half

HOLIDAYS:4 weeks pro rata per annum, with annual increases to 5 weeks

RESPONSIBLE TO:Operations Manager

The operations assistant is required to assist in organizing the daily operations of the centre, including opening and closing procedures, helping to ensure that the centre is completely secure at the end of the day.

They are to assist with all aspects of health and safety in the centre, supporting the daily operations of services available, showers, laundry etc.

To work as an equal member of the small team of employees, volunteers and trustees.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST

  • To assist with health and safety compliance for the centre on a daily basis;
  • To help with organising the daily operations of the centre;
  • To work within a team of equals to help deliver our services to the highest possible standards;
  • To help monitor the daily implementation of agreed policies and procedures and to report to the Operations Manager with any issues.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To prepare for activities at the beginning of the day;
  • To assist with deployment of volunteers;
  • To organise and monitor use of the shower and laundry facilities.
  • To monitor client usage of the building including external areas and deal with behaviour issues and incidents as they occur;
  • To support and assist with practices when dealing with inappropriate behaviour.
  • To support the Health and Safety functionof the organisation and to ensure all who visit the centre (clients, staff and volunteers) are safe and adhering to established H&S practices;
  • To receive donations of goods and helporganise their storage;
  • To help oversee and assist with lunchtime service;
  • To help oversee the cleaning of the centre and assist where necessary;
  • To report any issues with the building and various facilities to the Operations Manager;
  • To deputise for the Operations Manager in their absence, acting as key holder when required and to ensure 24hr call out availability in the absence of the Operations Manager;
  • To attend staff meetings and supervision and undertake any training as requested;
  • Any other activities as guided by the Operations Manager.
