SAFeProgram Consultant

PCI is actively seeking a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Program Consultant as a Subject Matter Expert for the DoD customer in the area of San Antonio, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Certified SAFe® Program Consultants (SPCs) are change agents who combine their technical knowledge of SAFe with an intrinsic motivation to improve the company’s software and systems development processes. They play a critical role in successfully implementing SAFe. SPCs come from numerous internal or external roles, including business and technology leaders, portfolio/program/project managers, process leads, architects, analysts, and consultants.
- Provided training and coaching in Agile Development principles and practices to development teams, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and program-level leadership.
- Provided guidance on achieving high levels of Agile maturity while complying with of the Agile Release Trains and coach to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable.
- Help teams assess the overall health of their agile practices and culture to identify opportunities to improve.
- Create the implementation plan – Participate in creating a plan for the rollout, communicate upcoming changes, and establish metrics. Preparing for the ART launch – SPCs help the LACE plan and prepare for the ART launch.
- Coach leadership and help facilitate the creation of new Agile Teams. They also train or source training of executives, leaders, development teams, and specialty roles—such as Product Owner, Product Manager, Scrum Master, and Release Train Engineer (RTE).
- Assess and evolve launch and backlog readiness. Training teams and launching the ART – SPCs often directly plan and execute ‘quickstart’ or other rollout strategies.
- Train or source training for teams and participate in initial, critical events like Program Increment (PI) Planning and Inspect and Adapt (I&A). SPC help establish the ART launch date and calendar for ART and Team events.
- Coaching ART execution – SPCs coach leaders and stakeholders to build and maintain the Vision, Roadmap, and Program Backlogs. Coach teams, Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects, and RTEs. They also participate in Scrum of Scrums and System Demo, facilitate I&A and follow-up on improvement items. Finally, they help teams establish a DevOps culture and mindset, the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, infrastructure, and associated Agile technical practices.
- Instruct and communicate the Safe 4.5 roadmap
- Articulates and helps leaders at all levels of the organization, both business and technology, to understand the benefits of the scaled agile framework.
- Works with Product Owners, Product Managers, Release Train Engineers, and Scrum teams to facilitate Release Planning preparedness to ensure each Release Train has an actionable, prioritized Backlog. Lead workshops & training sessions to educate individuals on Agile values, principles, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field from an accredited university and 10 years Systems Engineering and software development experience – required
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field from accredited university and 10 years software development and test experience – required
- Scaled Agile Framework experience and SAFe certification in leading SAFe - required
- Experience executing on Agile Scrum programs
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CST, CSM, CSPO, PMI/ACP, LKU, PSM, PMP)
- One year minimum as an SPC (early adopter of SAFe 4.5 preferred)
- 80 days of SAFe training and consulting experience in the past 12 months with two or more organizations (SAFe 4.0 and 4.5 experience preferred)
- TS/SCI clearance
