Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in applying for the post of Deputy Head Teacher at Ascot Heath Infant School.

Ascot Heath Infant School is situated in a pleasant residential area in North Ascot. We are situated on the same site as Ascot heath CE Junior School and many of our children transfer there at the end of Year 2. There are currently 206 children on roll. We have a Planned Admission Number of 70 which means that we have chosen to organise the school with an Early Years Unit of 70 pupils, two parallel Year One classes a mixed Year One/Year Two class and two parallel Year Two classes. Teachers plan, assess and work closely together. We have a well-stocked library, large hall and very attractive grounds.

Ascot Heath Infant School is a happy and supportive school for children, parents, staff and governors. We pride ourselves in knowing children and families as individuals and enjoy positive relationships throughout our school community.

The school has an excellent reputation for high standards of attainment, good behaviour and a rich curriculum provision based on half termly cross curricular topics with a strong foundation in basic skills. We are committed to working together to provide the children with a happy, safe and secure learning environment in which they will realise their potential as fully as possible. We work hard to maintain the school’s family atmosphere, while adapting structures and methods of communication to ensure the continued effectiveness of the school in the modern world.

There is a friendly, hard-working staff team with a wide range of skills and interests. Teaching staff are well supported by experienced teaching assistants, all of whom have received training to support them in their work.

The school received an Outstanding OFSTED report in May 2011. We are currently developing the learning opportunities through a themed, integrated, key skills curriculum using a wide range of learning environments including outdoor learning for all our children. Teachers and teaching assistants in their year group team monitor, evaluate and further develop the quality of teaching and learning for all subject areas.

At Ascot Heath Infant School we recognise that strong relationships with governors, parents and the community support the children’s learning and personal development. To this end we are committed to maintaining and developing these partnerships.

This post will have class responsibility with a teaching commitment of up to 4 days per week, 3 days if SENCo, and an expectation that the deputy will lead the teaching team.
The successful candidate will:

  • Be a consistently good and often outstanding teacher
  • Be a model of good practice in teaching, organisation and leadership
  • Be committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning
  • Have high aspirations for themselves, the children and community in which they will be working

  • Build on our good relationship with Ascot Heath Junior School colleagues to ensure smooth transition for Year 2 children. Develop further joint working between our schools to enhance continuity of learning
