ACTION REQUIRED

Before you begin the installation of Merant Tracker 8.0, please uninstall all versions of PVCS Tracker from your computer.

Step 1

  • Select Windows start
  • Select Settings
  • Select control Panel
  • Select Add and Remove Programs
  • Remove Tracker program

All Screen Shots produced in this document are in conjunction with Microsoft XP Operating System. If you are using Windows 2000 please follow closely, as you will need to make minor adjustments as it pertains to the operating system. Some of the screen shots from the operating system will not be an exact match.

1. Hard Drive Space and Allocation

1.1Locating your Hard Drive

Step 1

  • To determine your free space on the hard drive (usually c:)
  • Go to “My Computer”
  • Right click the Hard Drive where Tracker is to be installed
  • Go to “Properties” and left click

Note:Ensure that the destination drive has enough hard drive space to load tracker. (300MB free).

  • The Pie Chart will show the free space on your Hard Drive.
  • Once you determine that you have enough free space, proceed to the next page

2. The Tracker Website

Step 1

  • Go to the web site
  • Below is a sample screen shot of what the home page should look like on your browser
  • Select Tracker Download and Applet Remover link on the left hand side of the web page

Step 2

  • On the Tracker download page select the Tracker 8.0 Link

Step 3

  • You will seen the below screen asking you to save the file
  • Select the save button

2.1 Saving the Tracker File

Step 4

  • Save the Tracker file (tk8004w32.exe) to your desk top
  • Once the Download is complete, locate the Tracker file you saved
  • Double Click on the file to start the Installation

3. Installing the Tracker Windows Client

Step 1

  • Once the menu appears, Select “Next”

Step 2

  • Select Yes to the License Agreement

Step 3

  • Enter the server IP address
  • Select Next

Note:If you are using the Sabre network (AA, Sabre, US Airways) use 151.193.213.29. If You are using the EDS network use 207.169.174.195.

3.1 Summary

Step 4

  • Enter your name and company name
  • Select Next

3.2 Local Install

Step 5

  • Select local
  • Select Next

3.3 Component and Destination Selection

Step 6

  • Check Tracker Desktop Client
  • Check ODBC Drivers
  • Select Next

Note:All other boxes should be unchecked

Step 7

  • Select Next

Step 8

  • Select Next and the installation will continue

Step 9

  • Uncheck the two boxes, and select Finish.

Step 10

  • Select Yes
  • Select Finish

Note:Your computer will restart once this task is complete

4. ODBC Driver Setup for Tracker

4.1 Locating ODBC in Windows

Step 1

  • Select Windows Start, then select Settings
  • Select Control Panel
  • Select Administrative Tools

Note:Windows 2000/XP: go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data Sources

4.2 Adding a New ODBC Connection

Step 2

  • Select ODBC Data Sources

4.3 Adding a Data Source

Step 3

  • Click on the System DSNtab
  • Select Add

4.4 Selecting The SQL Server

Step 4

  • Select SQL Server
  • Select Finish

4.5 Entering the Name, Description, and Server Information

Step 5

  • If you are on theSabre NetworkType in: “151.193.213.29” in the Name, Description and Server fields
  • Select Next

Note:IF YOU VPN INTO THE SABRE NETWORK FROM EDS YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL BOTH IP ADDRESSESS (Run process Twice)

Step 6

  • If you are on theEDS Trusted Network: “207.169.174.195”in the Name, Description and Server fields
  • Select Next

Note:IF YOU VPN INTO THE SABRE NETWORK FROM EDS YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL BOTH IP ADDRESSESS

4.6 Client Configuration

Step 8

  • Select the second Radio button that shows SQL Server authentication
  • Check Connect to SQL
  • Type in Login ID, tracker

For Password, please contact

  • Select the Client Configuration box

Note: Do NOT hit “Next” Yet

Step 9

  • Sabre Network Users will have the following: 151.193.213.29 in the Server alias and Server name fields
  • Select TCP/IP
  • Select OK

Note: If port 1433 is entered instead of dynamic, that is normal

Step 10

  • Sabre Network Users will have the following: 151.193.213.29 in the Server alias and Server name fields
  • Select TCP/IP
  • Select OK

Note: Windows 2000/XP. If port 1433 is entered instead of dynamic, that is normal

4.7 Establishing the ODBC Connection to Tracker

Step 11

  • You will be taken back to the Create a New Data Source page
  • Select Next to establish the connection

Step 12

  • Select Next

Step 13

  • Select Finish

Step 14

  • Select OK

Note: EDS Trusted Network will have the following in Data Source Name and Data Source Description,207.169.174.195

Step 15

  • You be taken back to the ODBC Data Source Administrator page
  • Select OK

Note: EDS Trusted Network will have the following: 207.169.174.195 under the Name column

5. Tracker Configuration

5.1 Server Definition Wizard

Step 1

  • Select Windows Start
  • Select Programs
  • Select Merant Tracker
  • Select Tracker

Note: If this is the screen you see, click on the green and yellow icon in the upper right corner to get access to your IP address to see a list of projects. If this happens you are finished with the Client setup, if not continue.

5.2 Server Information

Step 2

  • Select Create a new server definition
  • Select Next

Step 3

  • Type in 151.193.213.29 if you are on the Sabre Network in the Name and DBMS Location fields
  • Select Tracker SQL Server Sys from the drop down menu
  • Select Next

Note: If you are on the EDS Trusted Network, type “207169.174.145” in the Name and DBMS Location field. Select Tracker SQL Server Sys from the drop down menu, and select next.

5.3 Tracker username and password

Step 4

  • Type in tracker for User id
  • Please contact for password
  • Select Next

Note: : Retype this password if present just like in the ODBC setup.

Step 5

  • Select Finish

Note: EDS Trusted Network will have the following: 207.169.174.195 as the Server name and DBMS Location

5.4 Project Selection

Step 6

  • Select your project from the list or hold Control to select multiple projects
  • Select Open

5.5 Signing Into Your Project

Step 7

  • Type in your Username and password given to you by the Tracker Team or Project Manager
  • Select OK to enter Tracker

Note: Select “Remember password” to bypass this process. Remember that Tracker will not save your server settings until you log in to your project(s) successfully
