“RYAZANSKIE SMOTRINY”
The International Puppet Theatre Festival “Ryazanskie Smotriny” is regularly carried out from 1989 and it enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, UTF (the Union of the Theatre Figures) of Russia, UNIMA and Ryazan Region Administration. During 26 years of its existence the festival became one of the most important events of theatre life of Russia, acquired acknowledgement and popularity in creative circles of many foreign countries.
In 15 previous festivals (the 15th was held in September, 2015) took part well-known theatres of Russia, theatres from near foreign countries, and theatrical campaigns from Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Holland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Brazil, Israel, Serbia and Montenegro, Bulgaria, Argentina, Croatia, and the USA. All performances are widely covered by the press, central and local TV-companies.
“Ryazanskie Smotriny” became a unique creative workshop, which is needed for professional growth of art critics, reporters, directors and artists, teachers and students of drama schools; the festival promote the preservation of united cultural space, enrich the treasury values, which are common to all mankind, draw together the culture of different peoples. The festival develops relations, establishes perspective contacts between puppeteers of different towns and countries.
The program of the festival is known for its variety and wide range of themes, genres and techniques.
A high professional level and artistic meaning of performance is the main criterion of selection of participants. The festival “Ryazanskie Smotriny” is not a competitive festival. Each group can award any actor, director, artist or performance with its own prize.
The next 16th festival will be held at September 2017 on 4 scenic pavilions of Ryazan: 1stscene is for 350 persons, 2nd scene is for 280 persons, 3rd scene is for 100 persons and 4th scene is for 80 persons. The festival will give an opportunity to people of different ages and professions to get acquainted with culture and traditions of other peoples, to value rich forms of self-expression of this original art.
The managers of the festival will pay for the journey from Moscow to Ryazan, accommodation, meals and some minor expenses. Ryazan – is a town, situated in 200 km from Moscow and it’s population is about 600000 people.
