Lisa Meitin, wife of Lakeside head cross country coach Jerry Meitin, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after Coach Meitin accepted the cross country coaching position. For the next five years Lisa remained committed to:Coach Meitin’s love for the team even though that meant being apart each year for their wedding anniversary that coincided with the State Cross County Meet,continued her work at SRS, andvolunteered numerous hours for her church & community.Lisa lost her battle to ovarian cancer on January 24, 2012. Through it all, Lisa neveronce losther gift of remaining positive toward life and being an inspiration to others.
This memorial scholarship is based on the traits Lisa exhibited. Lisawas committed and attentive to all she knew. All that knew her felt her positive influence. Lisa influenced the Lakeside Cross Country Team through her steady support of Coach Meitin. Her life is a reminder that no matter what circumstances or obstacles are presented, one person can make a positive impact and difference.
Scholarship and Selection Criteria For Lakeside High School, Evans
- Applicants must have been an active team member of a high school cross country team for a minimum of two years.
- One of those years must be their senior year on the Lakeside High School Cross Country Team. Must be verified via Coach Meitin or Way.
- The following criteria will be used for the selection for the Scholarship Recipients:
- Applicant has demonstrated a commitment and desire to have a positive influence on their school and community
- Demonstrated leadership skills at school and in community
- 1Letter of Recommendation
- Essay Questions 1-3
- Number of years involved with High School Cross Country.
- A Scholarship will be awarded to one female and one male which meet the minimum criteria established by Selection Committee. Should the minimum criteria not be met, the Scholarship(s) will not be awarded for that academic year.
- The application and references must be complete and post marked no later than March 17, 2017 and mailed to:

- All applications will be reviewed by a separate Scholarship Committee.
- Scholarship Awards made by the Selection Committee are final.
- Awards will be made at Lakeside High School’s Award Ceremony and will be a minimum of $1500 each.
- Scholarship Awards will be made directly to the College/University once proof of acceptance and payment information is made available to Committee.
- Application information may be used for media purposes and/or at award ceremony

Lisa Meitin, the wife of Lakeside head cross country coach Jerry Meitin, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after Coach Meitin accepted the cross country coaching position. For the next five years Lisa: supported her husband’s love for the team even though that meant each precious wedding anniversary was at the Cross Country State Meet, continued her work at SRS, and volunteered numerous hours for her church & community. Lisa lost her battle to ovarian cancer on January 24, 2012 but never once lost her gift of remaining positive toward life and being an inspiration to those around her.
This memorial scholarship is based on the traits Lisa exhibited to all she knew and those she did not know, yet benefitted from her service and commitment to her community. It is a reminder that no matter what circumstances or obstacles are presented, one person can make a positive impact.
