Ryan Award for Innovation
2018

About the Award

In association with the Tony Ryan Trust and the Galway University Foundation, the Ryan Award for Innovation is awarded to recognise and facilitate the development and translation of an innovative idea the underpins innovation in the area of the Marine, Energy and Environment. 2018 is the fifth year of this annual competition.

Applications for the Ryan Award for Innovation are invited from NUI Galway staff (academic, administrative and technical), research staff or postgraduate students. The award of €25,000 will be distributed in stages that reflect agreed milestones in the project’s delivery plan (Project Plan).

The idea may be a research idea that can be developed further with the intention of commercialisation. Alternatively, the idea may be to deliver a programme that drives further innovation in the Marine, Energy and Environment area, such as increased business engagement, demonstrated societal impact or embedding innovation into educational programmes. Proposals from Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences researchers that underpin innovation in the area of the Marine, Energy and Environment are welcome also.
