SOMERSET, NJ--Aspiring and established writers, agents, editors, and publishers will gather to learn and share at the second annual Rutgers–New Brunswick Writers’ Conference (ruwriterscon.rutgers.edu/news) to be held on June 2-3, 2018 in Somerset, NJ. Attendants choose workshops from multiple concurrent sessions, meet individually with agents, editors, and publishers, join a panel discussion on publishing options, and attend an evening reading event featuring famous authors. Concurrent sessions will address creative non-fiction; fiction; genre fiction; poetry, writing for performance, the writer’s life and marketing your work.

New York Times bestselling authors Alice Hoffman and Chris Bohjalian will present the keynote presentations.

Additionally, on June 1, 2018, conference participants will have the opportunity to attendAn Evening With Stephen Sondheim. This special opening event willfeatureaninterview with legendary Broadway composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim, hosted by NPR's David Bianculli.

Alice Hoffmanhas been called “America’s literary heir to the Brothers Grimm,” and her remarkable “fables of the everyday” have enchanted readers since the publication of her first novel,Property Of, in 1977. Onnesha Roychoudhuri, a New York-based writer, editor, and educator, has appeared in publications such as Rolling Stone. Her book on Dante was published in 2015.

Michael Swanwick, is an award-winning writer of numerous novels and short fiction stories, including The Iron Dragon’s Daughter, Jack Faust, and Legions in Time.

Distinguished writer Pablo Medina, is the Cuban-born author of eighteen books, including poetry collections and novels such as The Island Kingdom and The Cigar Roller.

Mark Dawidziak, isan accomplished writer, editor, actor, professor, and TV critic. He has written non-fiction, horror fiction, and a biography.

Alice Elliot Dark, is an award-winning short story author and novelist. Her short, In the Gloaming, was made into an HBO film.
