Executive positions
The Secretariat
President
The individual who oversees the entire club. Responsible for managing the executive, as well as the other broad areas of the club, like the Alumni association, MDR and tournament committees. Kiran Iyer is the person in charge of the club for this year, and the one to speak about for information on that role.
Note: this year, the executive has decided to allow Presidential candidates to submit a document to the members of the club prior to the AGM to give the membership a better understanding of their views. The deadline for the submission of these documents is Tuesday the 7th of September, and they will be submitted to the President at
Vice President
The Vice-President's role changes year to year, but this year Gemma Buckley's role as VP was in charge of Monday nights, in overseeing Member Training and Internals, and overseeing MAD Mini. Past VP's have been Colette Mintz in 2009 and Kiran Iyer in 2008
Secretary
The person in charge of collecting and distributing information relating to the club. Sending out weekly Tastebuds, organising O-Week, dealing with membership, running AGMs and EGMs and organising executive meetings. I (Luke McGreevy) am the secretary for this year, with Meredith Prior secretary in 2009 and Colette Mintz in 2008
Treasurer
Ensuring the financial aspects of the club are taken care of - applying for grants, managing the bank accounts, ensuring MAD cheques are written up and completing audits. Dominic Guinane has been the treasurer for 2010 and 2009, and Jing Leong was the treasurer for 2008.

IT Officer

Running the website, keeping the Twitter account active, ensuring the Facebook group keeps up to date - in essence controlling the internet for MAD. Stephen Moore has been the IT officer for this year, and Ravi Dutta was the IT officer for last year
Equity Officers

Providing briefings, being in charge of dealing with equity issues in a responsible and confidential manner both normally and at tournaments. It is a very important and serious role and should be researched well before running for it! Mel Birch and David Barda are the equity officers for this year

Members Without Portfolio

The majority of the executive are elected to the Member Without Portfolio (MWOP) position, which means that you will not know what specific position you will be allocated until it is decided by the President.

For the purposes of an election speech, it is worth flagging the types of position you would be interested in doing. The MWOP positions may change at the discretion of the President in any given year. However, these are the position descriptions for the 2010 executive.

Externals
Ensuring MAD sends people to Easters, Australs and Worlds, Minis and every other tournament possible. Communicating with the org comm of each tournament, maximising attendence at tournaments and making sure everyone at the tournament is kept alive! Ashleigh Feurtado is the 2010 externals officer, Scott Dawson was in 2009 and Rhys Campbell was in 2008
Internals
Running the tournaments held within the club - Sorenson, Freehills, Pro/Am, Freshers and the like. Managing the tab, recruiting adjudicators, organising teams are the main roles of the Internals officer. Gemma Buckley has been running internals this year,.Amit Golder was internals in 2009.
Member Training
Training new members and old members of the club, ensuring MAD maintains the level of talent that helps it dominate the debating stage! This role involves planning a training program for the year and then implementing it – organising Monday night training (and sometimes additional sessions, such as Wednesday Nights) and specifically getting presenters lined up for each of these. The role can also include hosting pre-tournament training days, often jointly with Melbourne.Victor Finkel has been Member Training this year, Fiona Prowse was member training in 2009.
Socials
Organising all the funtimes at MAD! Booking venues, setting up tabs, selling tickets are all duties of the socials officer. Rhys Campbell has been the socials officer for the last two years
Monday Meeting officer
Organising the 1:00pm meetings for MAD - organising speakers, trivia or even sports days! Jacqui Duong is the Monday Meetings officer for this year
Public Debate
Organising the Vice Chancellors Public Debate, in second semester, for the year. Acquiring high profile speakers, advertising it, and selling one of the most high profile events of the year! Meredith Prior has been the Public Debate officer this year, and Colette Mintz was in charge of it last year
Publications
Organising Silverongue, acquiring articles, confirming printing with Freehills, desiging posters and advertising material and making sure peope know about our events! Timothy Whiting is the Publications officer this year!
