Mechanics Day Message2015

From

The Most Worshipful Grand Master

“Ogivethanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. “

Psalms 136, verse 1

On the celebration of our Two Hundred and Fifty Eight (258th) Anniversary, Itake this opportunity to extend on behalf of the Officers and the Members of the Executive Committee of Grand Council our best wishes toour Brothers, Sisters, families and friends on this Mechanics Day 2015.

Mechanics Day celebrations each year brings us together to renew our commitment to the fraternity and more importantly to give thanks to Almighty God for his blessings and mercy bestowed on us during the past year, and to seek his protection and direction as we continue our Mechanics journey.

Tributes must be given to the leaders of our fraternity, who over these years have sustained our Order through both prosperous and difficult times, and who by the grace of the Great Geometrician have allowed us to be recipients of the virtues, values and the enviable traditions of our Noble Order. It is now our turn to do likewise, to leave a fitting legacy for those who will follow.

In the cycle of life, many of our beloved members have passed on to the beyond during the past year and today we remember them with prayers and thanksgiving with the Christian hope of re-uniting in the heavenly realms. We continue to be the support and caregivers to our ailing Brothers and Sisters in their time of need while providing the means to encourage and lift up each other in all our endeavors. This is what Mechanism teaches us to do.

We must make a conscientious effort to transform the positive ideals of Mechanisms into manifold actions among ourselves and the society in which we live. Let us commit to this task with personal and combined efforts by our Brothers and Sisters in portraying and living the true principles of Mechanisms among ourselves and our communities near and far. We must be exemplars of the virtues and values of Mechanism.

As we begin another Mechanic year, there are significant milestones to acknowledge. In 2016 we will celebrate ourDiamond Jubilee (75th Anniversary) of the relocation of the Order’s Headquarters to New York, United States of America. We will convene the 25th Triennial International Convention in Miami Beach, Florida, USA in October, 2016. Several activities are planned around these two events which will include the participation of each District Grand Jurisdiction worldwide.

In continuing the theme of the 24thTriennial International Convention of “Members Matter Most,” several initiatives have been undertaken by the Membership Development and Growth Directorate to provide support for all District Grand Jurisdictions with regards to membership. The reports of a decrease in membership in some District Grand Jurisdictions are a concern which must be addressed. On the other hand some District Grand Jurisdictions are experiencing a modest growth in membership. We must embark on an effort to attract new members who will share in the offerings of our fraternity, especially sharing our heritage and fraternal benefits with our young people, so they too can live the experience of Friendship Truth & Love. This is a most urgent matter, and one that together we can take up the challenge to overcome. Let’s get started.

It is my prayer that the Great Geometrician continue to bless us all, and continue to guide and direct our every thought and action. On behalf of the Executive Committee of Grand Council we extend to you, your families and friends our heartfelt congratulations on this notable occasion.
