RULES OF THE SENIOR MEN’S SECTION

ITEM 1: MEMBERSHIP

Gentlemen members of Corhampton Golf Club (CGC) 60 years of age or more may apply to join the Senior Men’s Section.

ITEM 2:FUNCTION

To manage matters specific to the Senior Men’s Section of C.G.C. that are not covered by , the Rules, Regulations and Bye-laws of C.G.C. and to do so in such manner as to conform with the Rules, Regulations and Byelaws of C.G.C.

ITEM 3:OFFICERS

3.1 The Captain – shall be a Full Member of C.G.C. who shall be proposed by the

outgoing Section Captain, confirmed by C.G.C Management Committee and elected

by majority vote of Section Members at the AGM of the Senior Men’s Section and

shall take office for one year (Rule 2.6 of CGC Constitution and Rules refers)

3.2 The Vice Captain shall be a Full Member of C.G.C who shall be proposed by the

Section Captain and confirmed by C.G.C Management Committee and elected by

majority vote of Section Members at the AGM of the Senior Men’s Section and shall

take office for one year. (Rule 2.6 of C.G.C Constitution and Rules refers).

3.3 Executive Officers - Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer – who shall be

proposed seconded and elected by majority vote of Senior Men Members at the AGM

of the Senior Men’s Section and shall serve for a period of one year and then may

seek re-election.

ITEM 4:COMMITTEE

4.1 The Senior Men’s Committee shall consist of the Captain, Vice-Captain, Immediate Past Captain, Honorary Secretary, and Honorary Treasurer and six other Senior men members. To be quorate the committee must comprise of four members one of whom must be the Captain, Vice Captain, Hon Secretary or Hon Treasurer. The Senior Men’s Captain, will, under normal circumstances, chair meetings of the Committee. In his absence the Committee will elect a chair for that meeting.

ITEM 5:ELECTION OF NON-EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

5.1 Any two members of the Senior Men’s Section may nominate a member to

serve on the Committee. Nominations, together with the names of the proposer,

seconder and the nominees, shall be posted on the Senior Men’s Section Notice

Board at least fourteen days before the Section’s A.G.M.

5.2 If candidates exceed vacancies, balloting lists shall be prepared, containing the

names of the candidates only, and each member present shall be entitled to vote.

The candidate(s) with the largest vote, including any proxy votes submitted under rule

11.2, shall be duly elected. Should there be a tie, then the names should be returned

to the floor for a further ballot.

5.3 Candidates shall be proposed, seconded and elected at each A.G.M They shall hold

office until the next A.G.M when they shall retire, but shall be eligible for re-election.

5.4 Any casual vacancy on the Committee may be filled by the Committee. Any member

so chosen shall retire at the next A.G.M. but shall also be eligible for re-election.

5.5 The Committee may co-opt any additional temporary members if they so require.

Any member so chosen shall retire at the next AG.M, but shall also be eligible for re-

election.

ITEM 6:POWERS OF COMMITTEE

The Committee shall have control of the finances of the Section and such

administrative powers as may be necessary for properly carrying out the function of

the Section, in accordance with C.G.C Rules. The Committee may appoint such sub-

committees to consist either of members of the Committee, or members of the

Section, as they consider necessary for special purposes. At every meeting of the

Committee or any sub-committee, the Chairman, in the event of a drawn vote, shall

have a casting vote. The Captain and Vice Captain shall be ex-officio members of all

sub-committees.

The Committee shall have the power to set any annual registration fee or any other fee

regarding membership of the Section, including entry fees to competitions of the

Section and Open competitions, all such fees to be approved by the Management

Committee of C.G.C.

ITEM 7:DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

7.1 The Hon Secretary shall conduct the correspondence of the Section and shall

have the custody of all the documents belonging to the Senior Men’s Section. He

shall keep full and correct minutes of proceedings and records of competitions.

7.2 The Hon Treasurer shall keep the accounts of the Senior Men’s Section and make up the Annual Accounts to the 30th September, which shall, after audit, be circulated to all members.

ITEM 8:ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (A.G.M.)

The A.G.M. shall be held each year in the month of October, at such time and venue

that the Committee shall approve, at which, in addition to other business, the

Accounts of the year ended 30th September shall be presented by the Hon Treasurer.

ITEM 9:EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING (E.G.M.)

The Committee may call an E.G.M whenever they see fit and shall be bound to do so

in receiving a request signed by not less than ten members.

ITEM 10:NOTICE OF MEETING

At least Fourteen days ahead of a General Meeting the Hon Secretary of the Section

shall post a notice calling the General Meeting on the Senior Men’s Section notice

board.

ITEM 11:PROCEDURE AT GENERAL MEETINGS

At any General Meeting twenty members must be present to form a quorum and the

votes will be taken as the Chairman shall direct. At every General Meeting the

Chairman may vote, and in the event of a drawn vote, shall have the casting vote.

ITEM 12:VOTING

12.1 All members are entitled to vote at any General Meeting,

12.2 A member who cannot attend a General Meeting may apply, in writing, to the

Hon Secretary, for a form in order to appoint a proxy to vote for him at that

meeting. Completed proxy forms must be received by the Hon Secretary at least

5 days before the meeting.

ITEM 13:AMENDMENTS TO RULES

No Rule of the Section shall be repealed or amended and no new rules shall be

made, save by the vote of a two-thirds majority of members present at a General

Meeting. Twenty-one days notice of proposed repeals or amendments to The Rules

shall be given to the Hon Secretary, who shall post the details on the Senior Men’s

notice board at least fourteen days before the General Meeting.

ITEM 14: COMPLAINTS

All complaints shall be made in writing to the Hon Secretary who, if he is unable to deal

with them, shall submit them to the Committee, whose decision shall be final.

ITEM 15:MEMBERS BOUND BY RULES

Every Member shall be bound by and submit to these Rules, and also to The Rules

and Bye-laws of C.G.C,
