Rules governing the award of prize for the best entry of the month
The Prize(s) will be known as the Ophthalmopaedia best entry of the month prize
There shall be one prize of £50 plus a digital certificate awarded by the Royal College of Ophthalmologistsfor the best Ophthalmopaedia entry published each month
The value of the prize may be altered from time to time by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists without prior notice
The prize will be awarded to the lead author of the winning entry
All entries published in any calendar month will automatically be considered for the award
There is no limit to the number of entries by any one author
All grades except Consultant are eligible to be considered for a prize
Only members/fellows of the College in good standing will be eligible for the award.
Entries will be entered into the competition in the month they are published on Ophthalmopaedia and not during the month in which they have been submitted
The winning entry may be advertised on the College’s e-learning website (Ophthalmopaedia)
The Ophthalmopaedia Prize Award Committee (the Committee) shall comprise the members of the Ophthalmopaedia’s editorial team appointed by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists
The Committee shall have equal votes in the judgement of the prize(s)
The Committee has the right to withhold award of a prize if in its opinion no entry merits award of a prize
Where a member of the Committee is a joint author or has any other personal involvement in a paper, he/she will declare an interest to the Editor and will refrain from taking part in the judging of that months competition
The decision of the Editor toaward the prize is final.
The Council of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior notice or assigning any reason.
