“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”
Synopsis: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is an irreverent, impudent romp through historical fact and fiction, following America’s controversial seventh president, Andrew Jackson, who is re-imagined as a spoiled, outrageous, emo rock star. Mirroring the current populist landscape, we trace Jackson’s life from rural, impoverished Tennessee upbringing, to early successes against “British blowhards, Spanish sissies, and those pesky Native Americans”, deep into political rabble-rousing, and eventually, to the American presidency. With an infectious rock score and an intelligent, anachronistic book, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is a biting satire on the American impulse to fight for exactly what we want- no matter what, or who, may be in the way.
