Rules for Abstract Submission and Poster Instructions

1. REGISTRATION, SUBMISSION, AND ABSTRACT EVALUATION

● Abstracts should be submitted electronically on or before JUNE 15th, 2017

Only Abstracts in English will be accepted.

● Only TWO submissions are allowed per registration.

● Abstracts will be evaluated only if the presenting authorhas paid the registration fee.

● Abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee, they should be written accordingly to the models available and should be submitted by means of EasyChair website: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=2isep

● A tutorial for submission using EasyChair is availale on our website (http://www.uel.br/eventos/simposiopato/pages/abstract-submission.php).

● The Scientific Committee will select six works for oral presentation which will compete for awards. The Scientific Committee will require an expanded abstract version of the selected works. The guideline for the oral presentation and expanded abstract model will be sent via email to the registered author. General rules for oral presentations are listed below:

ü  Authors of selected works have the right to refuse to present as oral presentation (in this case, the work will be considered only for poster presentation).

ü  The oral explanation may be in Portuguese. However, the text, arts and data must be in English (.ppt), and should not exceed the available time (10 minutes per oral presentation).

ü  Oral presentation exempts the poster presentation.

● By default, all submitted abstracts will be evaluated for poster presentation. The final allocation of your presentation will be communicated by late July.

·  All abstracts should be sent as .Doc or .Docx files.

●The corresponding author will receive the confirmation of the submission, and then also information about acceptance or not for presentation via e-mail.

● After abstract submission, all authors agree with the publication of the accepted abstracts in the proceedings of II International Symposium of Experimental Pathology / VII Simpósio de Patologia Experimental, without any consideration regarding copyrights.

● After the evaluation by the Scientifc Committee, the best poster per thematic area and the best two oral presentations will be awarded.

2. Abstracts

· Abstracts should fit in ONE of the following categories:

Ø Original work

Ø Case report

Ø Review

For each of them, a specific abstract model is available at our website.

Only Abstracts in English will be accepted. The authors are totally responsible for the the veracity of the information. The Scientific Committee will not be responsible for 'spell-checking' and 'grammar-checking' of the text. Please, read your abstract carefully to avoid mistakes.

● Abstract format

ü Abstract templates are available on our website (http://www.uel.br/eventos/simposiopato/pages/abstract-submission.php)

ü Abstract body MUST consist of 300-500 words (IntroductionàConclusion/Final considerations).

ü  Indentation: none. Margins: Top (3.5 cm), Bottom (3.0 cm), Left (3.5 cm), Right (3.0 cm).

ü Theme font Arial 10; 1.15 line spacing;

ü Abstract should be structured according to the selected category, conform the available models;

ü Research approval by the Human or Animal Research Ethical Committee MUST be indicated (approval number) in the Methods section;

ü  Abstracts involving human beings should inform that authors have the consent statement of each patient (applicable to case reports and original works);

ü Financial support (grant) and acknowledgements may be included at the bottom of the abstract;

ü Do not include tables or figures. Underlined and italic words must be used only when it is strictly required (e.g.: Scientific names, gene name, etc.), and not for emphasis.

· Submitting author is responsible for choosing ONE of the following a thematic area. Nevertheless, the Scientific Committee can suggest relocation to another thematic area if necessary.

ü Microbiology and Parasitology;

ü Pharmacology and Toxicology;

ü General Pathology;

ü  Clinical Pathology;

ü Immunology;

ü Epidemiology and Public Health.

ü Submission checklist – Please, proof read the authors’ guideline carefully and ensure all items were duly addressed before submitting your work.

3. POSTER INSTRUCTIONS

· Poster should be written in English.

·  Poster dimensions: 120 x 90 cm (height x width).

· Layout should be planned in order to have the poster readable by viewers 3 m away.

· Title, authors and affiliations should be strictly the same as in the accepted abstract.

· The name of the author who will present the poster should be underlined.

• The message should be clear and understandable even with no oral explanation.

• Poster presentation: poster should be put up in the day and hour specified by the Scientific Committee. All posters should be removed until on early 3rd August. The remaining posters will be discarded by the Organizing Committee.

• It is mandatory the presence of the presenting author throughout the poster presentation session.
