Rules and Conditions of Entry

Please Note: Your signature on the entry form will be deemed to be an acceptance of these Rules and Conditions of Entry. Please ensure you read them fully and carefully.

1.  When mounted, riders must wear hard hats conforming to the Pony Club rules for 2017. Pony club members please bring your hat with you to collect your number. It will be checked. No hat, no number! Hopefully your hat has already been tagged by your own branch.

2.  Entries in each class will be limited – enter early.

3.  Show jumping classes run under Pony Club Rules for Show Jumping 2017.

4.  For all other classes, the Pony Club standards for tack and turnout apply.

5.  On day of show, ponies may only be ridden by riders competing in the show.

6.  No lunging in the warm-up arenas.

7.  Dogs must be kept on short leads at all times.

8.  Do not drop litter – use the bins provided.

9.  Do not muck out your lorry / trailer onto the showground. Take your hay and muck home please.

10.  In the event of cancellation of show, entry fees will be refunded, less £3, on receipt of an SAE.

11.  The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry without giving reason, cancel or alter the classes and times.

12.  The organiser’s decision is final in all matters. Any objection must be made in writing within 30 minutes of the results being announced and be accompanied by a deposit of £10.

13.  No pony may be entered more than once in any class other than the Clear Round jumping.

14.  Riders in lead rein classes may not compete off lead in non-lead rein classes. Lead reins to be attached to the noseband only.

15.  When outside show rings and warm-up areas ponies must be ridden only at walk. Organisers reserve the right to eliminate any rider who breaks this rule or is seen to ride dangerously.

16.  All cups, trophies and shields are held for one year only and winners’ parents must sign for them at the Secretary’s tent. Any loss or damage must be paid for. It is the responsibility of the cup winner to return cups in good time.

17.  The organisers reserve the right to measure any pony that, in their opinion, appears to exceed the 15.2hh height limit. Any pony over height will be disqualified from all classes. JMB height certificates will be accepted.

18.  All class times are approximate and are given as a guide only. The organisers will endeavour to keep to time but it is the responsibility of competitors to appear for classes when required.

19.  Competitors may be allowed to leave a class temporarily to compete in other classes at the judge’s discretion.

20.  Neither the organisers, nor any person acting on their behalf accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, riders, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever.

21.  The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For those measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser, officials and stewards.

22.  No pony may compete in more than 3 jumping classes.

Ring 1

Show Jumping

Commencing at 9am sharp

If you compete in Ring 1 you may NOT compete in Ring 2 and combinations pony/rider must not

have won any money in BSJA competitions. No leading or assistance in Ring 1.

Rosettes to 8th place (Classes 1,2 and 4). Cups will be awarded to the highest placed Chiddingfold member.

Class 1 60cm Jumping

(Limited to 20 riders – enter early to avoid disappointment)

Jumps approx 60cm in first round

Single phase. The course is in two parts [1] Not against the clock [2] Against the clock. Competitors will jump both parts unless eliminated and faults will be accumulative over the two parts. The winner will be the one with the least faults and the fastest 2nd phase time.

Combinations entering Class 1 may not enter Classes 4 or 5.

Class 2 70cm Jumping

Jumps approx 70cm in first round

Single phase. The course is in two parts [1] Not against the clock [2] Against the clock. Competitors will jump both parts unless eliminated and faults will be accumulative over the two parts. The winner will be the one with the least faults and the fastest 2nd phase time.

Entry Fee : £10.00 per team member (Chiddingfold PC members £8)

Class 3 ‘Mini’ Teams Jumping

Jumps approx 70cm in first round

Combinations not to have competed in a jumping competition at 2’ 9” or above.

Teams of 3 or 4 with the best 3 scores to count. In the result of a tie, two members of the team will be required to compete in a timed jump-off.

Rosettes to 6th placed team

Entry Fee : £40.00 per team (Chiddingfold PC members £32)

Class 4 75cm Jumping

Jumps approx 75cm in first round

Single phase. The course is in two parts [1] Not against the clock [2] Against the clock. Competitors will jump both parts unless eliminated and faults will be accumulative over the two parts. The winner will be the one with the least faults and the fastest 2nd phase time.

Class 5 Small Novice Team Jumping

Jumps approx 80/85cm

Teams of 3 or 4 with the best 3 scores to count. In the result of a tie, two members of the team will be required to compete in a timed jump-off.

Ring 2

Mini Show Jumping

Commencing at 9.30am Sharp

If you compete in Ring 2 you may NOT compete in Ring 1 and combinations pony/rider must not

have won any money in BSJA Competitions. No leading please but gentle assistance in Ring 2 is permitted.

Class 6 Clear round Jumping

Fences start 1’0 and to go up through the morning until 11.20am

Riders 10 years and under, ponies 13.2hh and under. May not be led. No cantering except for individual shows if desired. Judged on manners not conformation.
