Teresa Marlin (833-3300 ext. 7072)

The Resource Tutorial Program is designed to assist students in completing their high school education within the prescribed four-year period. This program structures time and instructional assistance for students with their academic classes. Additionally, teacher and student monitoring of academic progress is built into the program. Elective credit is earned by successfully completing this class.

Course Rules and Expectations

  • Students are to be inside the classroom ready to work at the final bell. Special Education Department policy regarding tardies states that after four tardies, the student is referred to Administration for detention.
  • When students arrive in class, they should be prepared to work on specific assignments. If a student does not have work from other classes, the teacher or instructional assistant will give an instructional assignment.
  • Students are responsible for bringing their own pen, pencil, and notepaper to class each day.***The Resource Class will have pens and pencils available for purchase for 25¢ a piece.
  • It is recommended that students enrolled in math classes have a scientific calculator for use with math class and homework. This allows the student to be more familiar and proficient with their math tool.
  • Students are required to maintain a daily assignment sheet to record their classroom and homework assignments. This sheet will be reviewed daily by the teacher or instructional assistant and collected the first day of each week.
  • Weekly grade checks are required on Fridays. Completed grade checks are collected after the weekend. Parent signatures are sometimes required on grade checks.
  • Students must behave in an appropriate manner in the classroom. No profane, abusive, or threatening language or behavior will be tolerated.
  • No food or drinks (other than water) are allowed in class.

All aspects of the school discipline policy and the Special Education Department tardy policy will be enforced. IPods, cell phones, and other electronic devices restricted by DHS discipline policy will not be permitted in Resource classes at any time.

Grading Policy

  • Grades are based on a point system. Daily points will be given: 10 possible for the assignment sheet and 15 possible for on-task behavior.
