INTRODUCTION

Rose Lodge provides care and support to individuals and families in their own homes where by reason of infirmity, illness incapacity, or social problems they are prevented from effectively undertaking certain duties themselves. The aim is to prolong the independence of the client in the Community.

OBJECTIVE OF THE HOME

Our objective in Rose Lodge is to establish a loving and caring home service and to provide care and assistance as necessary to individual clients of the highest possible standard. Rose Lodge will provide care and support including normal household tasks that clients are not able to perform effectively

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA AND PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Post holder must have access to a car at all times, have a full driving licence and be contactable by smart phone. As clients are visited in their homes this post requires a substantial amount of driving. *

The post holder must be competent in verbal and written English. If English is not your first language then you may be required to sit an English test prior to any possible interview.

The post holder in line with contracting and regulatory requirements must possess a level of physical and mental fitness that deems them competent to provide care including the activities of daily living. The post holder must be capable of dealing with bodily fluids including urine, faeces, vomit and blood. Control of infection principles will be applied.

FUNCTION:Under the direction of the Community Care Manager the post holder will visit clients in the community to provide the necessary care and practice to meet the needs of the clients and ensure that all policies and procedures in operation are implemented and that the highest standards are achieved and maintained. Post holder must have access to a car, have a full and clean driving licence and be contactable by mobile phone.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1.Implementing care as detailed in clients care plans. Carrying out personal and caring tasks that are not the responsibility of a Nurse but which could normally be expected to be carried out by a member of family.

2.Ensuring that the policies and procedures in relation to the safe custody, administration, recording and disposal of drugs and medicinal products is strictly adhered to.

3.Assisting with the monitoring and reporting on client's conditions. Maintaining all records accurately.

4.Developing and maintaining good relationships with clients and their relatives. Reporting any complaints, incidents or accidents as required and to the Community Manager.

5. To encourage and motivate clients to maintain their independence within their limitations.

6.To establish a relationship with the client by giving support to those clients under stress having regard to the social needs of clients e.g. combat loneliness and improve the quality of life for the client wherever possible.

7.Use necessary equipment as specified by the local health care team.

8 To heat and serve meals in the clients home.

10.To read/write letters on behalf of the client

11.To assist in the cleaning of a particularly dirty or infested home.

12To undertake domestic tasks to maintain a good quality of life

13.To look after pets

14.To complete all administrative documents accurately.

CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT

  • Wages are payable into bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Car Drivers must submit their driving licence, MOT certificate if applicable and suitable insurance cover for motor vehicles.Petrol allowance is included in hourly rate of pay
  • Staff should keep an accurate record of their mileage for submission to HM Revenue & Customs at the end of each tax year or on request.
  • The appointment is subject to satisfactory medical conditions.
  • The post holder will be required to give one months notice in writing of their intention to terminate their employment.
  • The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six months probationary period.
  • Annual leave entitlement is 5.6 weeks per annum
