Room Parents meeting – September 29, 2010

No meetings necessary with Party Assistants. Delegate and ask each helper to come up with a game and just make sure no duplicates. Or divide up tasks (have each person print 9 Bingo sheets, etc.). For younger kids, maybe try reading a story that is relevant to the season/theme while they are eating their snack.

Please make sure to complete a party plan and email your games, etc. to the teacher at least one week prior to the party. The template is available on the Patterson website (PTA > Room Parent Info). Snack ingredients will also be posted on the website and the school nurse will have the list available as well. Please let me know if you get any parent requests for an alternate snack.

NO goody bags, prizes, food, trinkets, etc. are to be handed out!

Divide kids into stations. Have a group door decorating while other are playing different games. Rotate the kids through the stations to keep things moving. Or have them all play bingo together at end while eating snack.

Fall party – Friday, October 29

Class activity: Door decorating “contest”. Doors will be pre-hung with a plain sheet of paper and kids can decorate the doors with fall related decorations. Precut shapes (scarecrows, leaves, pumpkins, turkeys, and apples) will be supplied by the PTA. There will be enough die cuts so each child can have one of each. We will also provide yarn for decorating as well. In order to keep things fair, do NOT bring in any additional items for decorating. Parents can outline a tree, fence, moon, etc., but this is a project for the kids. They can decorate the individual die cuts and/or use their markers and/or crayon to decorate directly on the paper on the door. Kids can decorate their items prior to hanging them if they'd like (they can use their own crayons and markers to decorate, and their own glue for sticking to the paper on the door). The doors will be judged by either Mrs. Frost and/or Pete and the “winner” will get a blue ribbon. There will be one “winner” per grade. All grades will participate.

Games: PTA will supply 6 rolls of toilet paper for each class to do the mummy wrap game. Otherwise games and/or stories are to be decided by Room Parent and Party Assistants.

Community Service: Winter clothing drive for a school in need

Snack: Vanilla ice cream cup (no drink). Have them eat their snack right away before games, so the ice cream doesn't melt. Plan to pick up your ice cream when you checkin for the party. We will have spoons and napkins ready for you as well.

Winter party – Tuesday, December 21

Pending approval, this would be an all school pajama day.
