Purpose

The purpose of the MODAF Handbook is to provide the detailed technical guidance necessary to implement MODAF, including detailed descriptions of each of the View types and the individual Views. It intends to satisfy the following audience:

  • Data modellers, tool developers, and engineerswho are involved with implementing an architecture data repository to store and manipulate MODAF architecture data elements
  • Those involved in the selection of a MODAF compliant software tool
  • Advanced MODAF users seeking to develop enhanced or hybrid MODAF Views

Quality Criteria

A Quality Review will be carried out post-delivery to ensure that the composition and content of the Deskbook is in line with expectations. The following persons will be part of this review:

  • Kathy Lamb – MODAF project manager
  • Andy North – Integration Authority
  • Cdr Bill Biggs – Integration Authority
  • All MODAF Partners

Note: After initial review, tool vendor and MODAF technical group feedback will be sought

Skills Level

The Handbook requires the following skills and knowledge within the team, to enable its production:

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering approaches and their application
  • Knowledge of Architectural modelling tools and repositories
  • In-depth knowledge of the composition of MODAF and MARS, including
  • Enterprise Reference Model (ERM)
  • Object Taxonomy
  • MODAF Views
  • In-depth knowledge of modelling and its supporting technologies, UML, XMI, XML.
  • Technical writing skills for articulation of complex concepts to the uninitiated user audience.
