AGREEMENT TERMS

  • I understand that, by signing below, I will assume the costs of storing my belongings in a residence hall room and the contract is for the entire summer (May 19-August 31).
  • I cannot store items for others. If I do, my University account will be charged $150.00 for each person whose items are stored. All rooms will be inspected by Residence Life staff.
  • I am allowed to keep my bed loft kit if I intend to use it for the Fall of 2017 and understand that the loft kit rental fee, separate from the $150.00 charge, will be added to my student account during the summer, for Fall of 2017.
  • I understand that, Facilities/Maintenance, or Residence Life staff may enter my room to conduct inspections of facility related items or to repair/maintain the facility.
  • I will only store my belongings on my side of the room and will leave the main area of the room open for access if needed. If living in a suite hall, I will only store my belongings in my bedroom. No items may be left in common areas of the suite, including bathrooms, kitchens, and the common room.
  • I understand, as a new occupant to a room, that I must wait until the current residents are checked out of the room by Residence Life Staff before I can move my belongings in. It is my responsibility to find out when the current residents will be leaving, and I am not able to exchange keys with the current residents as Residence Life Staff must manage all key handling. Residence Life staff will determine if a room is in such condition that warrants maintenance work over the summer and will reserve the right to deny a summer storage request so that said work can be completed. I also accept that my roommate, for the following semester, may move in prior to me returning.
  • I am willing to accept the room as is, understanding that normal custodial services will not be performed during the summer. The room will still be entered to clean carpet and clean windows as needed.
  • As a returning occupant to a room, I understand that the Room Condition Form for this year will continue for the next school year. As a new occupant to a room, a new Room Check Form will start prior to my moving anything into the room.
  • I understand I will turn in all keys before my departure for the summer. I will not be able to re-enter my room until my scheduled move-in day in the fall. If I need to access my belongings during the summer; I understand that there will be a $50.00 charge for each time I access my room. Arrangements to gain access to a room during the summer must be made by contacting the Residence Life office at 608-342-1845.
  • If I am no longer a registered student for the 2017 Fall semester, I will have 10 days to remove my belongings. Failure to do so will result in the Residence Life abandoned property policy taking effect.
  • I agree to unplug all items, defrost the refrigerator, empty all fish tanks, and remove all perishable food from the room.
  • I agree to clean the room as if I was checking out. Cleaning bookcases, vacuuming, removal of trash and other basic cleaning of the room are required.
  • I understand that bicycles are not allowed to be stored in the room. If I would like to store my bicycle over the summer, I will contact the Residence Life office and will be billed $10 if I am a summer hall resident, or $15 if not.
  • I understand that all belongings, including items in drawers must be boxed and placed on the bed or on top of furniture in case staff would need to move items for emergency reasons. Larger furniture items may remain on the floor as long as they follow guidelines related to fire code and access to doors and windows. Failure to box items may result in the cancellation and requirement that all items be removed from the room for the summer. Prop mattress against wall and place heavy items directly on the bed frame.
  • I understand that my suite and other bedrooms may be used for summer camps and conferences useand my room will remain locked and secured during that time.
