Who We Are

Jackson Park Ministries is a Christian, faith-based non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-deductible organization, licensed in North Carolina. We have operated at our west charlotte location since 1985.

Jackson Park Ministries (JPM) exists to transform the lives of distressed low-income families and at-risk children located in our neighborhood, the greater Charlotte community and beyond. Our Transformational Housing, Children and Youth, and Community Benevolence ministries serve to assist families and individuals grow from societal dependence to financial independence and personal accountabilitiy through the teaching, development, encouragement and application of life skills based on biblical principles.

Position Summary

The Director of Development will direct all resource development activities with responsibility for the formulation, direction and implementation of a comprehensive, sustainable funding strategy that will enable JPM to achieve its ministry objectives today and in the future. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director/Board to build on the existing work of the ministry to raise visibility and awareness to new, potential donors as well as to maintain and expand relationships with those currently providing financial support.

In doing so, the Development Director will have as his/her primary responsibility to develop and implement a long-term resource development strategy needed to grow the organization to a $1 million resource development budget through the solicitation of major gifts, churches, corporations, grants, social media, direct mail, and special events.

Specific duties and requirements for the position are:

Duties

  • Works with the Leadership team and Board of Directors in setting annual fundraising goals and budget. Adjust strategies as needed to meet annual budget goals and forecasts.
  • Creates an annual resource development plan based on meeting budgeted goals.
  • Administers and reports on the progress of meeting resource development goals.
  • Research, write and submit grant applications. Prepare supporting documents and follow-up on status of requests. Ensure compliance with all governing regulations.
  • Creates prospect list and develops relationships with new major donors that align with ministry’s Christian principles.
  • Works with existing donors to further expand current relationships.
  • Oversees marketing initiatives and preserves the ministry brand.
  • Oversees and maintains the donor database so that all mailings are timely, records are current, and timely thank you notes and follow-up calls are initiated.
  • Develop robust communications program with extensive volunteer network to cultivate into a strong donor base.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer database. Implement and co-ordinate regular communication plan to thank volunteers, increase involvement and enlist volunteers as donors.
  • Ensures confidentiality of prospect/donor information.
  • Oversees and generates income-producing initiatives, including but not limited to major donors, mid-level donors, churches, corporations, direct mail, events, grants, web/social media and capital campaigns.
  • Represents the ministry professionally and in accordance with fundraising standards to the public, donors, and volunteers.
  • Models Christian conduct and behavior at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a part-time position that requires 20 hours per week. The schedule offers flexibility as some meetings will require evening hours. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Must possess an understanding of and passion for the Jackson Park mission
  • 3-5 years previous fundraising/marketing experience with a proven track record of success, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to make face-to face presentations to individuals and groups
  • Previous grant writing experience is required
  • Must have the proven ability to build and develop relationships with donors and prospects
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Database management skills are needed
  • Knowledge of the Charlotte philanthropic community is strongly desired
