Appendix S1 Standard Metabolic Rates of Diptera
To determine how the SMR of Arachnocampa flava compares to other arthropod species, published data for SMR of 21 species of Diptera were compiled. Data were obtained forParactora dreuxi, Paractora trichosterna, Antrops truncipennis (Chown 1997); Drosophila americana (Chadwick 1947); Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila nikananu, Drosophila virilis (Lehmann et al.2000); Drosophila repleta(Chadwick and Gilmour 1940); Glossina morsitans (Rajagopal and Bursell 1966); Glossina pallidipes (Terblanche et al. 2004); Musca autumnalis (Guerra and Cochran 1970); Musca domestica(Montooth and Gibbs 2003); Phormia regina(Buck and Keister 1949); Protophormia terraenovae (Berrigan and Lighton 1994); Pilica formidolosa, Promachus sp. 2 (Morgan et al.1985); Tabanus affinis,Simulium venustu, Aëdes campestris (Hocking 1953), andChironomus riparius (Penttinen and Holopainen 1995).
