UNITED STATES ARMY, Several Locations, 2 Combat Deployments (July 2003-April 2008)

Infantryman/Sergeant/Team Leader

•Served two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the second of which I was assigned to a Personal Security Detail as a squad member and primary medic. During this assignment I participated in over 300 combat patrols totaling 6,100 miles on the streets of Baghdad while leading my team to accomplish all duties with great accuracy and timeliness by emphasizing attention to detail and minimizing complacency during combat operations resulting in no accidents and no loss of human life.

•Developed the mental and physical stamina to accomplish all missions even while under direct or indirect enemy fire and after suffering wounds, earning two Purple Hearts.

•Selected over eight Noncommissioned Officers to perform data tracking and analysis of the combat area of operations in support of the Battalion Tactical Operations Center, in which I tracked significant acts and briefed the Battalion Commander daily on developing trends throughout the Brigade area of operations. This resulted in a significant advantage during mission planning in that it helped identify which areas of Baghdad to avoid during specific times in order for missions to be completed without incident.

•Assisted in the development of the Army's Combat Readiness Course for non-combat personnel by being chosen over my peers to lead the mock opposition force. I instructed my team in the proper zeroing of the MILES laser tag system in order to increase the accuracy of their weapons during the mock battle scenarios that would take place during this training. This resulted in effective utilization of the MILES laser recording hits from long ranges, in heavily wooded terrain ultimately providing greater realism in a non-combat training environment effectively increasing the students' combat preparedness.
