Road Running Management Group - Nominations for Race Representatives.

Background:

The Road Running Management Group (RRMG) consists of a number of appointed members, all of whom have considerable experience of promoting and managing road races at all levels. The responsibilities of the RRMG include; setting licence standards and overseeing the road race licencing process; maintaining and publishing the Race Directors’ Handbook; recommending and approving changes to UKA Rules for Competition relating to road racing; maintaining and publishing guidance on medical requirements at road races and encouraging improved standards of promotion of road races.

The RRMG is seeking to recruitthree members to serve on the group from 1stSeptember 2017.

Themembers will be:

  • Representative of small races - fewer than 500 entrants
  • Representative of medium sized races- between 500 and 2,000 entrants
  • Representative of larger races-over 2,000entrants

All positions on the RRMG will be skills based, assessed against a range of skills defined by the current RRMG.

All candidatesmust be a member of a UKA affiliated club or a representative of a UKAlicenced race.

Should there be more than one expression of interest for any one of the positions, then selection will be made by a panel consisting of the UK Athletics Director of Strategy and Partnerships, the Chair of the Road Running Management Group and the runbritain Manager.

Periods of Office:

These positions will be held for a period of three years with a two-term maximum, subject to review.

The office of Road Running Management Group Member shall be vacated if a member is absent without sufficient reason from three consecutive meetings of the Road Running Management Group.

Criteria for candidates:

Candidates for the RRMG should be able to demonstrate the following experience and skills:

  • A senior role in the organisation of at least five road running events in the appropriate size category.
  • An in-depth understanding of road race organisation logistics, including risk assessment, health and safety issues, traffic management, working in partnership with local authorities and police
  • Success in marketing road running events to a diverse audience

All candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to making road running in the UK the best in the world, and a vision for making it happen.

The RRMG will meet four times per year and will establish sub-groups where necessary for specific road running projects. Members should expect to invest a minimum of 12 days of their time each year.

Travelling expenses will be covered by UKA.

Candidates are asked to submit applications by 17.00 on 30th June 2017. The RRMG will assess each candidate against the defined skills and experience criteria and will compile a short-list to go forward.

Each application form should include a brief resume, maximum 250 words, of the applicant’s skills and experience.

The RRMG will review each application to confirm that the candidate meets the desired skills profile.

The RRMG reserves the right to reject applications where the applicant does notmeet the specified skills and experience criteria.
