RMF Auction Race Rules. Approved at the General Membership Meeting on Mar 3, 2007

Updated: Mar 1, 2008, Feb 28, 2009, Jan 24, 2015 General Membership Meetings

1. There are two YB Combine Auction Races: the first 200 and first 300 mile races. The RMF schedule will depict the CAR races.

2. Donated birds should be weaned but not older than 40 days. Younger birds may be donated and left in the nest to be sent to the buyer upon weaning. Arrangements for pickup/delivery will be made between the breeder and buyer.

3. Do not buy birds unless someone plans to race them. This is not fair to the breeder.

4. 30% of the money goes to the RMF, 70% to the race winners.

5. Half of the payout money goes to each race (the 200, the 300).

6. The breakout is as follows for each race. 70% of the following percentages go to the flyer, 30% to the breeder:

1st Place: 35%

2nd Place: 25%

3rd Place: 20%

4th Place: 10%

5th Place: 10%

7. Buyers can buy and fly as many birds as they want.

8. For every two birds donated, one bird can be nominated for $35. There is no limit on the total number of birds that can be nominated.

9. The donator guarantees a minimum bid of $35 for each bird (he buys it back).

10. OLD: Once a bird is delivered it will not be replaced.

NEW: 2015 RMF Meeting:

- A bird can (not “has to”) be replaced up to 40 days after the auction

- Recipient must provide the band. An RMF Officer must verify

11. The RMF statistician will post the following on the RMF website:

- Who bought which birds (and nominated birds after June 1)

- How much each flyer owes

- Total money taken in and what the payouts will be.

12. Clubs will make sure their members review the CAR information to make sure it is correct. Send changes to the Statistician.

13. Nominated birds must be declared by June 1 to the RMF Treasurer or to the RMF Statistician

14. All money is due to the Treasurer by June 1.

15. By June 15 the Statistician will email the updated CAR information, now with nominations, to the clubs for review. Corrections will be accepted until July 1.

16. July 1: The information is final and sent to the clubs. No whining allowed if you win money with a bird not listed.

17. If a buyer does not pay for his birds, he will not be considered an RMF member in good standing and will not be allowed to participate in any RMF races or activities. This does not apply to a member that, due to a hardship, works out a payment plan.

18. Money not collected will come out of the RMF’s 30%. Winners will not be penalized. This is a cost of doing business.

19. In the event a race is not flown and cannot be made up, the money will be moved to the next OB season. The YB CAR birds will then compete for the money on the first 200 or first 300, which ever one (or both) that were missed. The following 200s or 300s will be used as a backup - for as long as it takes. This also applies for out of area birds so #5g is deleted. (Approved at Feb 28, 2009 General Membership Meeting)

19. In the event a race is not flown and cannot be made up, the money will be added to the payout for the two CAR races the following year. Those races will then pay to seven places: 1-25% 2-20% 3-15% 4-10% 5-10% 6-10% 7-10%

20. In the event of a dispute, the RMF Officers will hear the arguments and make a ruling. Any RMF Officers directly involved in the dispute will not participate.

Out Of Area Birds

To allow for out of area birds to be donated to the annual RMF Young Bird CAR auction, the following procedures will be followed:

1. The donator is responsible for getting the birds to the auction and will bear any shipping costs

2. The donator guarantees a minimum bid of $35

3. If the donator is not present hewill place a secret bid with someone at the auction

4. If the bird is bought by an RMF member it will be treated the same asbirds donated by RMF members

5.If thebirdis bought by the ownerthe following procedures will apply:

a. The bird starts out with a $35 bid guaranteed by the owner

b.The owner placeshis birdwith a willing flyer of his choice. If the owner does not designate a flyer it will be placed in a rotationdetermined ahead of time among those willing to accept out of area birds

c. The birdremains the property of thebreeder unlike other auction birds. The breeder is responsible for all costs associated with returning it. If the breeder does not want it back, then it becomes the property ofthe flyer. The breeder must request that the flyer returnthe birdno later thantwo weeks after the last CAR race.

d. The split between breeder and flyer is 50/50 instead of 30/70 because:

1.) The breeder may incur expenses getting the bird to the auction

2.) The breeder is paying for the bird instead of the flyer

e. Out of area breeders can nominate one bird for each two they donate (like anyone else). Thismeanstheir nominatedbirds onlycost them $35 and if they want, they can send it later (ship by June 1).

f. The flyer shouldnotify the breederhe will be flyinghis bird. The flyer should then keep thebreederinformedofthe bird's progress and let the breeder know if it has been lost.

g. (DELETED: See #19 above) In the event a CAR race is cancelled, the money will be rolled over and added to the pot for the next year. The RMF will take its 30% cut the first year. The entire 70% remaining will be paid out in prize money the following year. (Approved at 2009 General Membership Meeting)
