RIVER REGION UNITED WAY AND NFL PLAYERS TEAM UP FOR KIDS –

Helping kids in the River Region get active with NFL PLAY 60 Day

Montgomery, AL – As part of a continuous effort to encourage healthy living, the River Region United Way is teaming up again with players from the National Football League for NFL PLAY 60 Day. NFL PLAY 60 is a national initiative focusing on the health and wellness of kids by encouraging them to be active for at least 60 minutes each day.

WHAT: NFL PLAY 60 Day in Montgomery

WHEN: 8am – 1pm on Saturday, April 5, 2014

WHERE: Cramton Bowl, 1022 Madison Avenue, Montgomery

WHO: Free event for 100 boys and girls ages 8-12 in the River Region

Nearly one-third of American children are overweight or obese, a condition that can lead to significant health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. NFL PLAY 60 aims to teach children fun ways that they can stay active and stay healthy.

On NFL PLAY 60 Day, hosted by the River Region United Way on April 5 at Cramton Bowl, current and former NFL players will join with volunteers and community partners to lead 100 area boys and girls, ages 8 to 12, in fitness activities and nutrition education. Activities will include football toss, run and shoot, shuttle drill and obstacle course. Players in attendance will be:
