RICHARD GERMILLER

(Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)

·  Dick began his softball career playing ball in Pleasant Valley, NY. From 1967-1973, Dick served on the management staff of the Poughkeepsie Brewers, a world class Fast Pitch Team.

·  As General Manager, he helped build the team, which in 1972 & 1973 achieved consecutive 3rd place finishes in ASA National Tournaments. Both years they were eliminated by the eventual; Tournament Champion.

·  During this period, Dick was also instrumental in bringing in many world class players, including Vince Caserto & Billy Stewart, both future ASA National Hall of Famers.

·  He was also instrumental in bringing the Eastern Regional Tournament to Poughkeepsie, the first time in over a decade New York hosted this event.

·  In 1974, Dick was appointed NYS Umpire-in-Chief. He helped to strengthen the system for qualifying umpires by re-instituting a clinics program for new & continuing umpires. He supervised umpiring at National Tournaments held in New York State.

·  He has attended umpiring clinics in Virginia, California & Oklahoma.

·  Dick has been inducted in the Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame and was a recipient of the Poughkeepsie Elks Night of Champions for his contributions to sports and in 2007 was inducted into the Dutchess County Sports Museum.
