Basic Dysrhythmia: 3 Day Class

  • Pre Course Homework assignment - Pg. 1-48, homework sheet below
  • Lecture, caliper measurement and rhythm analysis.
  • Course completion - 85% on the Rhythm Identification Test using calipers for measurement.
  • Testing is individual, no group testing.

Required Text/Supplies:

  • ECG Workout, Exercises in Arrhythmia Interpretation, 6th Edition, by Jane Huff
  • Book & calipers: pick them up in the Education Center, 3 WESTof HMC if your educator hasn’t already given them to you.
  • This is YOUR student workbook to keep.

Bring to Class:

  • ECG Workout Book& Calipers
  • Completed Pre-course Assignment(below)
  • Note-taking paper, pencils and pens

  • Review 100 strips during the class with rhythm strips for homework practice.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please read and review the first five (5) chapters of ECG Workout by Jane Huff, 6th Edition (through page 43). Based on this reading, analyze rhythm strips 5-1 through 5-11, found on pages 40 through 43. Show your work BRING THIS WITH YOU TO CLASS!

** For each of the following strips:

  • Determine the rhythm regularity, ventricular rate and, if it differs from the ventricular rate, the atrial rate
  • Identify and examine P waves
  • Measure the duration of the PR interval and QRS complex
  • Interpret the rhythm.

All rhythm strips are Lead II (unless otherwise noted).
