Revolutionary War Event in New Jersey
Objective
· Using the Internet or books as a guide, research an event that occurred in New Jersey during the American Revolution.
· Some examples could be: Abandonment of Fort Lee, Baylor Massacre (River Vale), New Bridge Landing (River Edge), Battle of Monmouth, Morristown Encampment, Battle of Bound Brook, Battle of Red Bank, etc. Another option is the Hanging of Major Andre (’76 House/Andre Monument/DeWint House) in Tappan, NY.
Presentation
· Describe what led up to event, what happened during the event, who the main people involved were, and the results.
· A map and a key are required.
· A works cited needs to be included in your assignment. This must be handed in on a separate sheet of paper.
· If you choose to report on a local event such as Baylor Massacre, Abandonment of Fort Lee, New Bridge Landing, or the Hanging of Major Andre you are required to visit that site and take pictures at the site.
Visual Aid
· You will share your research with the class in a presentation that should last approximately five minutes.
· Your presentation must include at least one visual aid. This could be accomplished through:
§ PowerPoints (pictures with 1-2 brief bullets of information)
§ Movies/Imovies (typed script is required)
§ Posters (trifold)
§ Film recordings, etc.
· You must use note cards in your presentation and not read directly off of a PowerPoint or poster.
· Students may work by themselves or with one partner. If you work with a partner, you must complete a partner accountability sheet to keep track of who is completing each part of the project.
Choose your partner wisely.
Research
· Students should use a minimum of three sources. Visiting the site is considered to be one source.
· Wikipedia and ASK.COM or any similar sites are not acceptable sources for this project. If you are unsure about an acceptable website, make sure to ask your teacher.
· Creativity will be taken into consideration when grading.
