Pronoun Antecedent Agreement Day 5
Materials:
Review Steps (Study Guide) Students already have!
Students completed Pre-Assessment.
Powerpoint with Pre-Assessment.
Unit Title:
Agreement: Pronoun Antecedent
Learning Target:
- I can choose pronouns that match their antecedents in number, person, and gender.
Assessments:
- Formative Assessment: Vocabulary
- Formative Assessment: WILL TAKE UP completed Exercises 137 and 140
- Formative Assessment: Student explanations of sentences on exercise 137 and 140.(WILL TAKE UP!)
- Review of Pre-Assessment: Students will look at and correct their Pre-Assessments as a review.
Lesson (Strategies and Activities):
- Review Learning Target. We will be using the same learning target throughout the unit.
- Review Pronoun Antecedent Agreement from yesterday.
- Students will then take out a piece of paper and continue writing their explanation for (137: 10, 11, 12) (140:1,4,5)
- There are a few students from each class who did not finish yesterday and had to take home to complete. As other students are reviewing, these students will conference with the teacher. (Continued from yesterday): As students finish their explanations, they will bring them to the teacher for review. (If they need to make corrections they will.) Once the teacher has read and responded to their responses, they will get one last practice WS to work on to review the Indefinite Pronouns. They will also get their study guide or review of steps. They are to work on this last practice while other students are finishing up.
- As students bring their explanations up they get a check mark for having completed this formative assessment. If students have not completed their formative assessment, the teacher will go to those students and determine what they are struggling with.
- Once all students have completed their formative assessment, the teacher will review the study guide and go over the answers to the additional practice.
- Students will be handed the paper on which they completed the Pre-Assessment for this unit. The teacher will use the slide show containing the sentences from the Pre-Assessment. Students will make all necessary corrections to their responses from the Pre-Assessment. This will be the final review.
- The Summative Assessment on Pronoun Antecedent will immediately follow.
