Presenters

·  Principal’s Report from Lisa

o  recap of discussion with Aubrey’s class this morning: students bring their classroom learning to real world situations

·  Parent Coordinator’s Report from Carrie

o  tonight: last parent workshop of the year (“talking to your kids about sex & sexuality”) -- free childcare and pizza for kids

·  Co-Treasurer’s Report from Mark

o  $475K total bank accounts

o  shout out to most recent fundraisers: Burlesque, Spring Fling, Soul Cycle, Pop Up

Business of Meeting/Discussion

·  Field Day Supplement (vote)

o  requesting $999 and use of remaining money in Games budget

o  combination of those two amounts will cover the field day overage

o  costs involved t-shirts and permits for the space

o  budget line had been cut last year, this will bring it back to what we’ve spent previously – maybe we cut it too much, this is an important event for the school community

o  still a procedural issue: ways to go about requesting additional funds before going over budget

o  motion to approve $999 in supplemental funds, motion passes

·  Graduation Supplement (vote)

o  there are 50 more children in the 5th grade class this year so there are more graduation expenses

o  this line item used to be 5K and it was cut to 3K

o  expenses include $1500 on chairs, $500 piano player, which leaves $1,000 for party for kids

o  pizza has been donated, cupcakes have been donated, DJ is free, ice cream is free, parents are chipping in own money for photo booths, etc.

o  requesting $999 for decorations, wall signage, plates and cups, watermelons, ring pops, glow stuff (and they will check parent closet to see what we already have before buying anything)

o  motion to approve $999 in supplemental funds, motion passes

·  Air Conditioning 5th floor office (vote)

o  500A & 500B do not have an A/C

o  PTA needs to pay for the installation ($775) and school funds cover the actual unit

o  motion to approve supplement of $775 to install A/C, motion passes

·  2017-18 EB and SLT Nominations (vote)

o  voting as a slate because uncontested

·  2017-18 Budget (vote)

o  discussion of Lisa’s discretionary line item: funds to be used for three things (assistant teachers to provide academic/instructional support for teachers and students; academic coaches; any leftover money for instructional supplies such as Chromebooks)

o  motion to approve 2017-18 budget, motion passes

·  Announcements

o  Chorus proposal: Rachel Black, Greenwich House Music School

§  PS3 parents have come to her for help in expanding our music education program to include choir/singing

§  Greenwich House (GH) is happy to partner with us as they already partner with other local public schools

§  for this program (to run twenty weeks next year), we would have each 5th grade class create an original song which would be arranged by two GH teachers and Bruce

§  then they could record their songs at GH and perform them

§  Rachel has already applied for grants to cover the costs of the program

o  Facilities

§  still working on auditorium A/C project, these things take two years from start to finish

§  big thanks to Arthur Pingrey, who did our new sound system in the auditorium

§  we didn’t get the participatory budget funding for our electrical outlet upgrades through Corey Johnson’s office, but we will be getting $90K from Gale Brewer’s office for this project

o  Pop Up Shop

§  takes a whole team of people, hope to keep it going next year

·  New Business/Parking Lot
