Item Price Updates

Create Lists of Item Records

  1. Create a list of maps and serials item records
  2. In Millennium > Create Lists, select an empty review file (Max Records: 1000 or more) and Search Records
  3. Name the review file (i.e., “MAPS SERIALS”)
  4. Store Record type: ITEM i
  5. Enter “i28693309” in Start*, leave Stop as is (*For faster searching, updated periodically)
  6. Click Retrieve Saved Query (click Query Name to sort alphabetically),
  7. Locate Item Price Updates: MAPS, SERIALSin the list
  8. Click Select
  9. Click Search
  1. Create a list of “high-price” item records
  2. Repeat above process to create a second list, but use the following saved query:
  3. Name the review file (i.e., “HIGH-PRICE”)
  4. Store Record type: ITEM i
  5. Enter “i28693309” in Start*, leave Stop as is (*For faster searching, updated periodically)
  6. Click Retrieve Saved Query (click Query Name to sort alphabetically),
  7. Locate Item Price Updates: HIGH-PRICEin the list
  8. Click Select
  9. Click Search

Globally Update MAPS, SERIALS items*

Global updates must be processed in the order presented below, i.e. first update MAPS, SERIALS, then update HIGH-PRICE review files. This is done to safeguard against overwriting high-prices with lower prices .

  1. Go to Millennium > Cataloging > Global Update and edit the 1. Select recordstab as follows:
  • Check Record Type: ITEM
  • Locate the MAPS, SERIALSreview file in the dropdown list, then Search
  • Right-click icon at the left of #ENTRIES to display Toggle menu
  • Choose ITEM Fixed-Length Fields > I TYPE
  • All items may be checkmarked, see above. Click any record number to quickly select it, unselecting all others
  1. Update MAPS
  • If Maps (Maps, Aerial maps, Wall maps) are present, click to place checkmarks in the boxes next to Maps
  • Ensure only the Maps are selected (i.e., onlyMaps will be globally updated)
  • Proceed to Tab: 2. Command input(Click Cancel to close Choose Command Type window)
  • Select FileLoad (Server)ItemMAPS updatesOK
  • Proceed to tab: 3. Preview
  • Process
  • Return to tab 1. Select records
  1. Update UNBOUND Journals and Annuals (Click Search to display ITYPES)
  • If Unbound journals and Unbound annuals are present, click to place a checkmark in the boxes next to both
  • Ensure only the Unbound journalsandUnbound annuals are selected (i.e., onlyUnboundtypes will be globally updated
  • Proceed to Tab: 2. Command input(Click Cancel to close Choose Command Type window, if present. Ignore commands already present, these will be overwritten.)
  • Select FileLoad (Server)Item UNBOUND updatesOK
  • Proceed to tab: 3. Preview
  • Process
  • Return to tab 1. Select records
  1. Update BOUND Journals, BOUND Annuals, Library Use Only Serials (Click Search to display ITYPES)
  • If Bound journals, Bound annuals, and Library Use only serials* are present, click to place a checkmark in the boxes next to each

*Library Use only serialstreated as “bound” for the purpose of price updates

  • Ensure that only the Bound journals, Bound annuals, and Library Use only serials boxes are checked (i.e., onlyBoundtypes will be globally updated), then Search
  • Proceed to tab 2. Command input(Click Cancel to close Choose Command Type window, if present. Ignore commands already present, these will be overwritten.)
  • Select FileLoad (Server)Item BOUND updatesOK
  • Proceed to tab: 3. Preview
  • Process
  • Return to tab 1. Select records

Globally Update “HIGH-PRICE” items*

  1. Update the 1. Select recordstab in Millennium > Cataloging > Global Update as follows:
  • Locate the HIGH-PRICEReview file in the dropdown list, then Search
  • Right-click icon at the left of #ENTRIES to display Toggle menu (see screen shot, above)
  • Choose ITEM Fixed-Length Fields > I TYPE
  1. Update HIGH-PRICE Books
  • If Books item types (“Books, Music, Misc.”, Library Use Only books) are present, click to place a checkmark in the boxes next to each
  • Ensure that only the “Books” item types such as books or scores appear in the list
  • Proceed to tab: 2. Command input(Click Cancel to close Choose Command Type window, if present. Ignore commands already present, these will be overwritten.)
  • Select FileLoad (Server)Item HIGH-PRICE updatesOK
  • Proceed to tab: 3. Preview
  • Process
  • Procedure is complete. Empty Maps Serials and High-Price review files

*Individual updates may be processed as follows:
