WHO AM I?

I’m shy and impatient, but also polite, hardworking and talkative. To go out with my friend makes me happy, and the bossy and unkind people make me angry. I like using my computer and I love watching TV, especially TV series and films but not documentaries. My favorite TV series are C.S.I., Lost, The Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy. Instead, my favorite films are Saw, The Sutter Island and Final Destination. I worry about school, because I don’t know what I will do in the future. I’d like to become an computer programmer, but I’m not sure. I can’t stand reading books, but I rarely buy some magazines, in which I read the gossip about actors and singers.

I usually study in the afternoon and when I don’t do that, I call my friends or I go out with them, or I watch tv and I surf the net. In internet, I sometimes go in facebook and in twitter, or watch something in streaming. At school I hate a lot of subjects, but I like Maths and English.

If I won a million euros in the lottery, I’d like to buy the biggest house in the world. A very beautiful house, with indoor pool and tennis court but I’d also like to buy a new, very expensive car. I admire my best friend because she’s very generous, and funny, but when it’s the appropriate moment, she also knows how to be serious and she knows how to listen to me apart from talking; and I admire also my grandmother for her commitment in her job.

I’m Italian and I know many people who speak different languages and are from different countries. It is beautiful, because in this way, everyone has got the possibility to learn new things about different traditions, different types of art, different history and different customs. At the same time we are all different and equal. When I finish school, I’m going to travel a lot. It’s not important where, but it is important what I will learn from this experience. I’d like to know how Americans live, I’d like to visit The Eiffel Tower in France, and I want to sunbathe on the Spanish beaches.

We shouldn’t treat in different ways people that we consider ‘different’. Everyone can teach new things to the others and it should be exciting and beautiful and not ugly.

The languages have an origin and an history. Why don’t we expand our knowledge? Also food is different and I love Brazilian food. There are people who have breakfast with meat and vegetables and people who have breakfast with milk and biscuits and there are people who don’t have breakfast at all! Fears are different for everyone. I’m afraid of spiders and my friend is afraid of snakes. Other people that live in different countries probably are afraid of being judged and of feeling excluded. The body is also different, and the hair, eyes and clothes. I love the French hats and the German people’s hair, because it is blond, and wonderful. If everybody was equal, life would be boring!

I live in a small town near my high school called Arino. The town is important for what it can offer for everyday life: the presence of a supermarket, or market day. But also what is in the city , can simplify our life or not. If in my town there wasn’t the hairdresser, I would have to go far away, and I would go less times. I love going to the ‘Kilometro 01’, one of Arino’s bars. It’s beautiful, and, twice a week, there is the karaoke there. I like listening to songs sung by other people, no matter if well of badly. To go to the swimming pool, I have to go to Dolo or Pianiga. They are the localities closest to my house. A friend of mine lives near it. She is 16 years old and we go to the same school. Two of my classmates also live near me. In Arino there aren’t a lot of shops, but it is pretty and silent. When it’s cold, I don’t go out frequently, but when it’s hot yes; on those days, I take a walk, I do some shopping and I go to the beach with my parents or friends, I go to festivals, and to the cinema. I love cinema. I like the films and when I go to see them, I almost always see horror and thriller films. When it’s cold instead, I love staying at home under the blankets and I love watching television. But I can’t stand getting up to go to school when it’s cold. It’s horrible, annoying and stressful getting up early to go to school, or to work.

Italy is famous for pizza and spaghetti, and I love both. In my town there is a restaurant, but I have never gone to it, and a bar, but it is small. Football is the most important sport in Italy, and I don’t understand why. It’s ridiculous! In this sport you must simply kick a ball, and the players earn lots of money! I definitely prefer swimming and playing tennis.

Darie Alina

WHO AM I?

I’m usually a very shy person, but when you get to know me you will notice that I’m not like that at all! On the contrary , I’m funny and extroverted, at least that’s what my friends say about me.

I’m trying really hard at school even if I have no idea of what I’m going to do in the future. I think I’m going to travel, because I love it! I would like to see all the different places and cultures around the world.

My favorite subject is definitely English, I don’t know why but I really like it, maybe not the grammar parts, but I think it’s a fascinating language and it has this beautiful sound that the other languages don’t have, or maybe it’s just me.

I don’t really watch TV but when I do I usually watch TV series like: “Skins” or “American Horror Story”, I like horror movies and comedies as well.

When I’m not studying I’m probably hanging out with my friends or surfing the net, but I have a pretty boring life so I don’t really do much during the week, maybe at the weekends I can do something more interesting, but that’s all.

I would really like to finish high school and maybe get a good job, I believe I’m not asking for too much, just an acceptable and with an average salary job.

I’ve always been considered “different” but not because of my look or anything, but because of where I’m from, which is Romania. Probably it was just a beginning thing you know: when you first know someone and you tell them that you’re Romanian they do that mean facial expression, I don’t know, but then if you get to know me well you’ll discover that I’m not a bad person, I’m just like everybody else.

I don’t consider the fact of being “different” a bad thing, but most of the time people usually judge other people just because they’re not like them, and that’s not a bearable reason to judge someone, just because of their looks, the clothes they’re wearing, the country they’re from or many other things. There are so many people with low self-esteem because of the mean things that other people are saying about them. I also think that being “different” is being original, I mean, when someone wears something that someone else wouldn’t wear they immediately start judging them, and we really shouldn’t think that way. This is our society today, with all this prejudice.

If there’s a person of another country we should learn from them: the culture, the language. Because every country has their own traditions and history and we should respect that.

When I moved here in Italy I was only 5 I think, but in the summer I usually go to Romania on holiday, so I could say that there are some differences between one and another, I remember my country with all those high buildings that I never see here. I haven’t really seen any differences between the people though.

I like living in Dolo, It’s a really pretty town, and the people here have always been nice to me.

I really like the fact that the summers are really hot, and the winters not that cold, because in Romania winters are super cold and there’s a lot of snow, but I don’t like winter so I prefer Italy’s weather better.

In the summer, when I’m not on holiday, I like to go out with my friends and eat an ice-cream or drink something, and like I said, because the winters are not that cold, I can hang out with my friends.

I don’t like dressing up too much, with winter clothes, I like summer clothes better, I’m more a kind of a “summer person”.

I have to say I love Italian food, and pizza is one of my favorite, I usually eat one on Saturdays or if I go to the restaurant, but I don’t really go often, it’s more of an occasional thing.

That is, in brief, who I am.

Darisi Sara

My name is Sara, I'm 16 years old and I study languages. I really love music, I can play the piano and the guitar, music is important to me because it's a way to express myself and it's part of my life. Another thing that I love is art, I like drawingmanga characters and sometimes I make some paintings. My friends make me happy, we talk about everything, we are always together and we have a lot of fun; I think it's important to have friends because life is more fun in company. I hate when people lie and are rude. I like books more than films, a book lets you imagine stories, it takes usto differents periods in time and to different places. A film just shows the stories without the particulars and sometimes from the point of view of the director. When I'm not at school I usually do the things I prefer the most andin the eveningsI go out with my friends. My favourite subjects are English, Spanish and literature. For the future I would like to go to Japan and learn Japanese, I think it's a beautiful place and it has a beautiful culture. But I would even like to visit the rest of the world, there are a lot of places that I'd like to see, like New Zealand, England and the United States. I've already been to Ireland and I have found it very beautiful; there is a lot of green space and a lot of ancient Gothic monuments so I would like to have other experiences like this. Since I wasa child my parents have invited me to spend my time outside and not at home in front of the computer. I think that me and people of my same age have not been too influencedby technology because computers had not spreaded extensively yet when we were six or seven years old. I have spent a lot of my holidays in the mountains, because my grand-parents had built a house there. So I love nature, animals and I preferthemountains to the beach. Here in Italy we can find different climates and landscapes, we have very beautiful mountains like the Dolomites, and beautiful beaches. We are lucky to have all these places because it's easy to visit them and we can ski and go swimming without any problem. I live in Mira that is not a big city and life is calm. There are parks where I go with my friends in the afternoon and we can play or relax without being disturbed by the traffic or other things like this. My parents are from Malcontenta so I spend there a lot of time and it'smorequieter than Mira, and everybody knows everybody. It's is also very influenced by Venice. I love Venice, even if it's always very full of tourists and sometimes it's a litte bit hard to walk along it'sstreets. However it's a unique place with it'spositive and negative aspects, and in each palace there is a part of Venice's soul. Maybe because of this proximity with Venice I love art and I prefer ancient things to modern ones. Every city has it'sown culture and traditions like in Venice we have the tradition to put outside some water in a glass with the white part of an egg during the night of 28 June and in the morning we can see the ship of San Pietro in it. I like it here but I wouldn't like to live here forever because maybe there are other places that I would like to discover in all their particulars, and live there should be a bigadvantage.

Italy, as other countries, is very stereotyped. There are adjectives that are given to an Italian, like "mafioso". People forget the positive aspects of Italy. Indeed in this period Italy is not very great, also for the image that our representatives give to foreign countries. Judging is easy and we have prejudices for people who come from other states too. I believe that in previous centuries there was more curiosity and desire to discover, as the one that brought Christofer Colombus and Marco Polo to make great discoveries. Italy has a big artistic and natural patrimony that are remains of ancient history. But we don't care about it and we don't protect them. A lot of other states are proud of what they have and they try to protect them as they can. We have different habits in food, the biggest part of Italian people eat a lot of pasta, and we eat different things for breakfast in comparison withan Englishor a German person.

It's important to be different, because we can learn new things from others to create a better place, a better world without discriminatinga person only because he is "different" from our point of view, but we all live on the same Earth, we all need the same things to survive. The world is great because it's various(this is the literal translation of an Italian saying);if Italy was like Australia we wouldn't have the desire to go to it. And if Iwerelike the other people there wouldn't be anything new to know.

Dovico Giorgia

Hi everyone!

I am Giorgia, a student of "ITCS Maria Lazzari" School in Dolo, a small town in the province of Venice. I am going to tell you something about myself. I am a cheerful person, I like being optimistic but there are some days where I am very moody.
I always help my friends if they have some problems and if there is something that I don't like I say it directly without beating around the bush.
I wear casual clothes, most of the time I wear jeans with a T-shirt or a sweatshirt.
But at the weekend, when I go out I like wearing prettier things. For example, when I go to clubs I put a dress on and wear high heels or something like that, so it depends on the occasion.
What makes me happy? Well, I don't really know. I love being with my friends, they make me happy. I love spending my time with them, especially with Valentina and Elisa, they are like my "second family". Elisa and I have been friends since kindergarten, while Valentina and I have
known each other for 3 years. We met in the first year of High School even tough we were in different classes. In our school, at the third year, you have to choose between two different courses, and now Valentina and I are in the same class.
She is my best friend, she knows everything about me and I know everything about her. If I have a problem I immediately go to her and she always knows which advice to give me. She does not live far from my house, so I can go to her house every time I want. It takes 5 minutes by bike. At school we sit next to each other and talk a lot. Sometimes we should shut up and pay attention to the lesson, but we can't help it. Now that we are in the same class we see each other all the week. I trust her and I hope that our friendship is true. I really care about her, she is not very tall so I see her like my little sister. Elisa knows Valentina too, so we go out all together. We really get on well because we have similar characters. We always want to go out and do everything that comes up to our minds, we are really impulsive.
Instead Elisa and I have known each other for 13 years, it is such a long time!
Now we attend different schools, she goes to Galileo Galilei High School in Dolo, but we see each other at the weekend. She is really friendly and she makes me laugh a lot. When we are all three together we have lots of fun, we help each other If we have some problems and we can trust in each other.
I can't stand people who tell lies or people that throw away their own lives without any purpose to reach or, even worse, people who throw away their lives taking drugs. I think that they are too weak to face their problems and try to overcome them.
I care about my family, my dad, my mum and my brother, they are so special to me. I have a good relationship with them, sometimes we have arguments but I think it is normal. I don't know what I worry about. Maybe I worry about school, going to be failed, but it is a trite answer.
I am not really interested in reading, I don't have a particular writer I like the most. When I was at middle school I read more than now but I was not a fanatic and I am not a fanatic of movies either. I am more interested in music. However, when my friends and I don't know what to do, we stay at the house of one of us to watch a movie, most of the time we watch horror movies. This is our favourite type.
When I am alone and I watch TV, I like watching MTV, which is a music programme, or reality shows. My favourite subjects at school are foreign languages, English and German. I have always liked thinking about the cultures and traditions that other countries have and this is the reason why I like foreign languages so much. When I am not working I like relaxing on the couch, reading some magazines or listening to music with my ipod or spending some time with my dog Stella.
Now I don't have any particular ambition in my life. I only want to finish school and find a good job.
I am going to tell you more about the place where I live. I live in a small village called Fossò, in the province of Venice. I live in a semi- detached house with my family, near the fields. I think that the place where I live affects me because I am an easy person, I only want basic things, things that I really need. If I have to go somewhere I need my parents to take me there because it takes too long on foot.
Italy is made up by many different regions and provinces, each one with its own distinctive dialect, culture and history. In my region we speak Venetian, most of the time I speak that with my friends.
I think that the food that we eat is affected by the territory where we live too. We are in Italy, so you know, we are known all over the world for our food. I am proud to say that we eat in a healthier way than in other countries.
This is all, bye bye!
