Executive Summary
Annapoorni Iyer has 15 + years of experience with core specialization in Infrastructure projects involvingsolutions to core geotechnical problems. She has established experience in handling projects with applications like retaining structures, reinforced soil structures, hydraulic structures and providing solutions to different geotechnical problems like slope stabilization, erosion control, landslide mitigation, rockfall protection systems, ground improvement solutions. She was entrusted with the responsibility of business development and marketing following her 8years of experienceleading the design of India team for a period of 5 years. She was given the authority of leading Centralized Marketing division where she had the responsibility of developing sustainable business leads and strong branding of the company within the industry. In the year 2017, Annapoorni ventured into entrepreneurship by starting her own consultancy firm providing services in the field civil engineering and expert advice in the geotechnical engineering. She aspires to contribute her industrial experience gained in the field of civil engineering to student community by taking on the opportunity of visiting faculty in engineering colleges of Mumbai, Pune and other cities towards south of India. With her MBA degree in Infrastructure and Contracts and her experience in middle management position,she is a suitable person who can balance technical knowledge with management lessons and pass the skill to potential civil engineers.
On technical grounds, her areas of expertise are:

Annapoorni Joined MESPL in the year 2002 as Design Engineer,
MESPL a wholly owned subsidiary of Officine Maccaferri S.p.A. based in Bologna Italy, with more than130 years of Global expertise in mitigating Geo Environmental related problems is in India for the past 10 years. With an in-house Technical Support and Production backup they serve needs in the following Geo Environmental fields:
  • Land Slide Mitigation.
  • River Training Applications.
  • Reinforced Soil Wall systems.
  • Coastal Protection.
  • Rockfall Mitigation.
  • Erosion Protection.
  • Sub grade Stabilization & Pavement Restoration.
Having gained the initial training in core application areas, designs of retaining and hydraulic structures, Annapoorni was further given the responsibility of Business Development of the Western India. In this period she gained the experience of commercial aspects of the project and could develop the market in a big way. To her credit, she has generated orders from Larsen and Toubro worth 1 Million for the Innovative application of Rockfall Protection works.
Leading a team of 6 Engineers and 2 draftsmen, Annapoorni was placed in the position of Sr.Manager-Designs . She undertook the responsibility of looking after the Whole Indian Subsidiary of the Company for Design and technical requirements of the projects. Since 2010 she is leading the technical marketing division with core responsibilitiesof Business development, Brand propagation and Promotional activity for the organization as National resource.She is involved major projects carried out by Maccaferri India, as a strong Technical Supportto the Core Sales Development team. 1)Amby Valley Sahara Lake City:
Application:
Slope stabilisation, Soil retention, Embankment protection.

Responsibility:
Site study and provide a feasible solution. Annapoorni was given the task of getting the concept approved from the consultants and final designs approved from the consultants and release good for construction drawings.
2)Four Laning of Satara Kolhapur Road –Package IV (Part of the Golden Quadrilateral)
Application:
  • Wingwalls for bridge approaches and retaining walls
Challenges:
  • Poor foundation strata with very low bearing capacity
  • Heavy rainfall
  • Submerged conditions with high seismicity
Responsibility:
  • Design of critical structures and get the principal approval
  • Release good for construction drawings
  • Monitor the quality of construction at site
Apart from various retaining structure application she was also involved in Design of reinforced soil structures. Some of the projects are:

Reinforced Soil walls with Concrete Panel Facia for Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, Mumbai
Slope stabilization of 74m high retaining structures for Pakyong Airport, Sikkim
3)Canal Lining works
Protection works for Rio Cobre Bridge, Black River, Coleburn’s Gully, for the Jamaican Project-Highway 2000. Getting the Principal approval from the Design Consultants Frishmann Prabhu Consultants Pvt Ltd, Part of Pell Frishmann Group of Consultants.

4)Rock fall Protection Works:
She was actively involved in the Tendering and execution support of the Rockfall protection works for the Konkan Railway Corporation. She was also involved in preparing the detailed estimate of the protection works along the National Highway-4, Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Increased the design support to Sales and Marketing by 30% within first year when she was responsible in the position of Design Manager
Implemented the direct and indirect marketing methods in the organization, Implemented the promotional and marketing goals for different verticals on a national basis and modified year on year based on the monitoring of ROMI
