Etiquette Note

Hopefully your team will enjoy the experience of playing in this competition, everyone can’t win but the experience should encourage your players to continue lifelong participation in the sport. Therefore a few guidelines should be adhered to:

  1. Winning the game gets you 5 points – even if the game is won by 1 goal. So, if teams are unevenly matched (and we can’t know this until they play) stop the game, mix the teams or use subs, so that one team is not humiliated.
  2. Umpires, Umpire! – They should not coach their team during the game, but they may do so at half time. Should an inexperienced young, team keep getting pulled up for the same infringement and they obviously don’t know why – explain how they are ‘breaking’ the rules!
  3. It is inappropriate to have a hall full of spectators shouting at and sometimes booing the visiting team. All spectators should be at least 3 meters from the side of the court at all times!
  4. Home teams should provide hospitality for both teams – crisp & juice etc.

Netball Scotland would like to take this opportunity to wish all clubs the best of luck in the Scottish Youth Cup!
